Made from fermented apple juice, apple cider vinegar is known for its myriad benefits to the skin and body. To prepare the liquid, apples are first crushed and then the juice is squeezed out from them. To begin the alcoholic fermentation process, bacteria and yeast are added to it to convert the sugars into alcohol. Finally, in the second fermentation process, the alcohol is transformed into vinegar by acetic acid-forming bacteria. The sour taste comes from the combination of acetic acid and malic acid.

Not only does it help in losing weight but it can also be used as a home remedy to enhance health and beauty. “Apple Cider Vinegar has become a very popular household remedy across the globe for all sorts of benefits pertaining to skin and hair disorders, along with other health disorders. Patients are using it for the treatment of acne, pigmentation, Vitiligo (loss of skin colour), Psoriasis, hair loss, Alopecia Aerata, dry skin disorders, etc, both orally as well as topically,” Dr Kiran Godse, Consultant Dermatologist Hiranandani Hospital Vashi-A Fortis Network Hospital says.

Here are some benefits of apple cider vinegar that you should know.

1.      By helping increase the insulin sensitivity in the body, apple cider vinegar can be a great aid for diabetics. Mix a spoonful of apple cider vinegar with two teaspoons of water and drink it before bed every night.

2.    Applying apple cider vinegar to your skin can help fight acne and pimples.

3.    Its natural antifungal properties can help prevent dandruff and remove itchy, scaly scalp.

4.    Soaking your feet in water mixed in two to three tablespoons of apple cider vinegar is a great remedy to get rid of the smell.

5.     Apple cider vinegar can treat sunburns and help reduce itching and inflammation.

However, even with all its goodness, you need to be cautious while using apple cider vinegar on your skin and body. Using it without dilution can burn your insides. Also, it is recommended to consume it in small amounts instead of going overboard with the quantity.
