Happiness is very subjective or so we think. We all believe that our happiness goes hand in hand with success and that is where we all go wrong. We are so focused on being successful that we forget to remind ourselves to be happy. We set our goals and aim for our targets, but once we achieve it, we only get momentary happiness. We give ourselves a minute to be happy and then we don’t know what to do with our success. So, we set new goals and plan to achieve the new target to become happy. While we do all of this, we don’t realize that our happiness does not lie outside but rather within ourselves. Happiness is a state of mind and we need to find happiness within our minds. Achieving goals will give us success but not happiness. Our success and goals and happiness do not go hand in hand. But our habits can hamper our happiness. Sometimes even after separating our happiness from our goals and achievements, we fail to remain happy because we are too busy indulging in habits that are hampering our happiness and building stress.

Here are some habits that you need to quit in order to find true happiness:

1. We all need a little bit of discipline in our lives. No one can live without a routine. Not having a fixed routine can confuse our body and increase the load on our mind and body. If you are one of those people who cannot stick to a schedule in your daily life now would be a great time to fix it.

2. You feel stressed and need a break. So, take the call to give your mind some time to unwind and tell yourself that mental health is important. This is a good thing as long as you don’t take too many breaks. If your life has more breaks than productivity then it may be hinting towards a bigger problem

3. Do you fail to appreciate yourself? If yes, you need to change this habit. Praising yourself for doing something right is a good habit and a form of self-love that all of us need in our lives.

4.  Some of us are very stubborn and though it may be a good thing if it is directed in the right direction, if it isn’t things may go very wrong. Being stubborn will only make you more unhappy in life. 

5. Self-Doubt is a form of distrust and you cannot live happily if you fail to trust your own self and your abilities. How can you ever trust someone else and live happily if you cannot even trust your own self?

6. If you’re one of those people who constantly needs control in life it may not be a good thing. Having some control is good but when you start trying to control every little thing in life it may increase your stress levels because some things are uncontrollable.

7. We all need to be a little flexible in life and if you’re very rigid and refuse to adjust with the changes or run away from the changes it will never give you any happiness.
