Stress Management: Follow these 4 simple yet effective exercises to keep stress at bay

Stress is one of the most common problems that people are facing around the world. And to solve the queries, we recently met Health & Lifestyle educator, Neha Ranglani and she gave a deep insight into whats and hows of the stress and how few simple exercises can help you to keep tension at bay. In the interview, she stated how we all are living in a stressful atmosphere and how even kids suffer from the same. She explained how every day we face stressful situations and stress hormones such as adrenaline releases.

During the same, our main systems right from digestion to excretion takes a back seat as the body works on another systems to fight stressful situations. So in short, our adrenaline is always high and our other functions which take back seat slowly fails. For the unversed, adrenaline is very corrosive for our body. So liver, pancreas and kidneys get affected as they keep on absorbing excess stress hormones.

Apart from stressful situations such as fights, deadlines, undereating or overeating, eating the wrong foodstuffs, fasting for long hours, can also lead to stress. When asked how to beat the stress, Neha revealed how one should eat carbs and focus on breathing. She gave an example of how a car after running miles and miles gets heated up so one should shut the car down to let the engine cool so that it can go longer. In the same way, our brain gets heated up if they don't give our body a break or breathe well. Basically, we have to slow down and calm down ourselves to be healthy. She also revealed four very helpful exercises which are mentioned below.

1. Focus on your breath 

Sit in a quiet place uninterrupted and close your eyes and start breathing and keep doing until you feel relaxed.

2. Deep breathing or belly breathing

Put one hand on your belly and another hand on your chest. After doing the same, start  inhaling and exhaling from your belly

3. Drop your self down relaxation exercise. 

Stand up in a comfortable position and stretch your arms and throw yourself down in a relaxed manner without touching the ground.  Take 10 deep breaths while in the positions and stretch your arms again and relax.

4. Om Chanting Relaxation

Lie down on the floor with your legs on the chair or on the bed and make sure your knees are at the 90-degree angle. Keep your fingers on your eyes and close your ears with your thumb. Inhale and exhale and chant Om till you continue the 'Mmm' sound. Do the chanting 7-8times or till you feel relaxed.
