It seems Sonam Kapoor is itching for an image makeover. The actress says she would love to do a sexy item number.
"No one asks me to do an item number. I am just asked to do classical type of films. So, I guess people have to start looking at me in that way and see me as a sexy item number girl," Sonam said at an event here.
The actress was recently seen in Pankaj Kapoor's "Mausam" along with Shahid Kapoor. Although the film hasn't got great reviews, she is not upset.
"Fortunately for me I have got unanimously great reviews for 'Mausam' this time. I haven't got one bad review," Sonam said.
"People have unanimously loved me in the film. I have not actually encountered too much criticism with it. So I don't know how I will deal with it but hopefully I will deal with it gracefully," she added.
Lately, a lot of mainstream actresses are doing item numbers - whether it's Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif or Kareena Kapoor. And Sonam hopes to join the league soon.

when is she taking acting classes?
shes isnt sexy period - shes skinny but like seen as a goody good. plus she sucks at acting so she might as well give item numbers a try.

I know right?speaking of hypocrisy.....the girl says she does not look good in "those" roles and then 5 minutes later she says she would want to do "those" roles and then well guess what....i'm speaking for all the guys out there WE DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU DANCING.you suck at it.get real and move on to something else.

I think Sonam suits the cute or chic image. Can't imagine her as sexy.

Sonam is young and fit and chic but she does not possess the sex appeal you need for these item numbers. I mean, I or any of my guy friends have never been attracted to her in a "sexy" kinda way. And she is an epic fail at dancing (from whatever I saw of her at IFFA 2009). So please stay away and stick to making IHLS/Aisha type movies. At least there is an audience for it, even though small.
Sonam was awesome in Mausam and all her movies except Thank You.

Uhmmmmm right Sonam. In order to do item numbers you need to know how to dance. Newsflash talentless one, you cant dance, let alone act (though you have improved, say like 0.00001%).
So learn to dance, wipe that toothy grin you constantly wear and loose that spoilt attitude.

You go girl! Why shouldn't she do item numbers, she's gorgeous! She just needs to do one that fits with her sensibilities, I think she would cringe if she had to do something tacky like a typical Mallika Sherawat or Rakhi Sawant number.
She mentioned in her last Filmfare interview that most of her fans are girls so there's no harm in reaching out for some more male fans too!

poor girl, her family must have only shown her 3 out of 20 reviews, thats why she thinks everyone praised her, or they changed shahids name to hers in all of them so she thought all HIS praise was for her! lol
She needs to stop thinking she's a serious and good actress, start going to classes and learning to act!
Also your not sexy enough, neither can you move/dance like that to do an item number, the close she has come to trying in the movie THANK YOU, and she looked silly.

I don't want to see her in item numbers! Just do a movie with Salman Khan...the entire role is an item number lol. Some people will always think Sonam can't act. Let them live in their make believe world lol.
For the people that said she was pathetic in Mausam - get a reality check! She has improved through heaps and bounds as an actress, and she has a long way to go. Yes, she is doing few films - but 'Slow and steady, wins the race'. Her acting caliber cannot be compared to the likes of Priyanka and Kareena, but she is certainly improving. As far as the makeover is concerned, why not?
