Kareena Kapoor-starrer "Heroine" is working wonders in the overseas market.
The Madhur Bhandarkar movie, based on the ups and downs in the life of an actress, was reportedly made at a budget of Rs.20 crore.
It released in 42 screens in the Middle East Thursday, and has earned $350,000, with 19 screens still to report the numbers.
In India, Britain and the US, the movie opened Friday.
It registered Rs.7.5 crore earnings in India, in Britain, it made $78,402 from 41 screens, while in the US, "Heroine" minted $140,000 (it released in 112 screens, and six screens are yet to report the numbers.
"'Heroine' has seen a phenomenal opening in all major international markets. This was a highly anticipated movie and our marketing push has helped pull in massive crowds to theatres. No other female lead has seen such a response in recent years," Amrita Pandey, executive director, Syndication, International Distribution - Studios, Disney UTV, said in a statement.
"Heroine" also features Arjun Rampal and Randeep Hooda in key roles. The movie had a strong buzz around it, and it was heavily promoted across all quarters.

My bestfriend dragged me to see this movie because it was her birthday, we sat through 2hrs 25mins( including trailers) through this disaster of a movie. Kareena OVERACTTED to the max, the snorting scene was not convincing, the chemistry between kk and her male co-stars was not convincing at all. The house was packed, but at the first interval, there was less than half of the audience remaining. A few ppl were with the theater manager requesting their money back. Kk is limited in her acting skills. She was GREAT in jwm, but she continued to carry Geet in all her movies. IMO, Aish would've made the movie more interesting because she can emote greatly with her eyes. And the movie cost more than what Mahdur is reporting.

He did expose PC... the married actor and jealous wife issue was inspired from SRK & Gauri Khan, whereas the actresses having affairs with the married man was inspired from none other than PC
If someone does n t like the movie he\she has the complete right to say it but just because Kareena is not your favorite actress that does n t mean you can continuously bash her for no reason & bring your favorite actresses name in this post kinda SILLLY IMO

Heroine was way better that any other movie I had seen in the past couple of years.

I am glad HEROINE is not as well as expected. My reason is because Madhur Bhandakar picked 1 particular Heroine to highlight in this film, Preity Zinta. When I know their is another Heroine in the Film Industry who is the Worst of allllllllll. But that Heroine comes across as innocent in everybody's eyes. It doesn't work like that OK. I hope when the time finally comes Madhur will do a film on Priyanka Chopra and show us what an Evil, Dangerous, Wicked Wretch Priyanka truely is.

I watched this movie and I have to say this is one total bakwas movie.Having said that Kareena was just superb in the movie but the movie had absolutely no story line. It looks like a total B grade movie. I feel sad that for someone as talented as Kareena. Fashion was a much better movie and by this I do not mean that PC was better or anything. It was just a well made movie.
Kareena was the only saving grace of this movie and because of her I watched the movie till end!.
Boxofficeindia reports that 25 Cr(which is overseas included) is just an okay figure.And say that film may suffer from now.The film's total budget is somewhere around is 33 Cr+ ,as the film has been released on too many prints.Lets see if it gets there.The film fate till now is somewhat similar to Agent Vinod.Which had a decent weekend but couldn't recover afterwards.But the film has seriously been trashed and has got very mixed reviews for the lead's performance.Lets see!
Madhur can be called credible for just 2 things......for showing aishwarya d door ( becoz she wud have ruined it)....& secondary for drawing such performance from kareena.....oderwise film sucks big time......
Well good for Kareena. I just loved her in the whole film.In every scene she was amazing and its a really bold role where you can see that she's put her heart & soul.So kudos to her for that:-) Otherwise the entire film sucks from starting to ending and is Madhur's worst script ever. It was only because of Bebo that I stayed put in my seat for the full movie,& I really wish that she had a better film at hand. But still happy for her cause she's been able to carry a film on her shoulders without the Khans. Kareena actually managed to make me feel sympathy for actresses who have affairs with other married actors. They are manipulated by their charms and power.

What do you mean...Who do you felt sympathy for the actress or the married actor wife? What if the actress is a willing participant? The right thing here is to feel sorry for the actor wife because the actor will leave his wife upon the actress insistance and he will marry the actress. Madhur don't know as yet but the actor he is potraying in his film is actually a Son of a B****. And hte Actress is worst.
No reason for Ash or PC to pass negative comments...they are just fine. Only loser here seems PZ -exposed almost in all scenes in Heroine and Raaz and trying to bash up movie for that.
Movie was very good, Kareena was fab. Negative comments are NOT from Ash or PC but obviously from PZ and her 2-3 twitterites who work overnite apparently beause Madhur exposed the likes of her. This pic of Kareena reminds us of Preity's pics during IPL fuming with anger and over what? Wonder why she should get angry on Madhur, Vikram Bhatt or kareena or Bips for exposing her when she makes no ammends in her own actions.
I loved the film so much. Sure, it was sensualized for entertainment but everything in the film was so true! The whole Katrina Kaif passport thing and Preity Zinta buying an IPL team with her rich business man partner was so true. This does happen! And actresses having affairs with their married costars, hoping they would divorce their wives and leave their kids is also so true. Kareena actually managed to make me feel sympathy for actresses who have affairs with other married actors. They are manipulated by their charms and power. It's sad industry and was portrayed harshly to its deepest roots. Madhur gives us a reality that is not so much fun to watch onscreen. Kareena plays a fading star so insecure, so vulnerable, so emotional that it made me cry. She gives her heart and soul in this film
Seems like people are forgetting how Fashion received mixed reviews too with majority of the critics giving the film 3 out of 5 stars or 2 out of 5 stars. Same with Heroine. Madhur doesn't give you a family masala fun film. He shows cruelty, reality, harshness, and doesn't sugarcoat anything. I do think Madhur messed up with Heroine but the overall result was satisfying. Kareena's performance blew me away to be honest. Worth the watch.

I finally got to see the movie today and I have to say that the negative comments and reviews are way too harsh. Maybe people had too many high expectations? But I thought the movie was a million times better and entertaining than the buckwas rubbish films like Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Bol Bachchan, Ra One, Rowdy Rathore etc. Kareena's performance is turly worth raving about. The lesbian scene and the rest of the bipolar insane scenes Kareena had to do really impressed me. Yes the movie has its flaws but it was nowhere as bad as people here are making it out to be. Kareena should deservedly be proud of her performance in the film.
It's pretty obvious that the Aishwarya fans are super angry about this. I understand. Ash had a series of flops in the last few years for some reason. Her movies just weren't making any money and she wasn't being appreciated either. Heroine went to Ash after Kareena couldn't do the film due to scheduling conflicts but the film ended up going back to Kareena. Now Kareena is enjoying sweet victory at the box office carrying the movie wholly on her shoulders. The Ash fans are going crazy in their minds in rage and jealousy apparently. Thier faces have turned red in anger and they are close to popping the blood vessels on their foreheads and necks.

I have been constantly hearing negative things about this film, be it online or in person. But it is also noted that Kareena is apparently the only saving grace of the film but she couldn't do much alone :(
I was hoping for something more, oh well ...................i shall wait for the dvd.

I'd like to say that the movie was bad. I mean the direction, story line and scripting was terrible. However Kareena's performance was impeccable. She saved the disastrous movie.
