Director Kabir Khan, who cast Salman Khan as a RAW agent in "Ek Tha Tiger", says the actor is apt to become India's James Bond.
"Salman, I think, has the charisma and the sheer presence that a Bond needs," the 41-year-old said here Wednesday at the premiere of latest 007 movie "Skyfall".
"You look at him, he is strong, silent. But you know when he, sort of, goes into action, there is going to be a lot of thrill," he added.
Kabir said: "When I was making 'Ek Tha Tiger', I was conscious that we didn't want to do a Bond because I feel that there is a difference between Hindi films and Hollywood films.
"In our films, even in love stories, our heroes are James Bond, so there has to be a differentiator."
However, Kabir did incorporate a few aspects of Bond movies.
"We stayed away from the sort of Bond style of presenting an agent. Yes, the action we took, a lot of effort was taken to make it international and it was probably very similar to the kind of action that you see nowadays in the new Bond films, more realistic," he said.

I thiink Kabiir is getting too chuffed just because his film was a super hit...calm down mate..if it was a flop, he would have never say stupid and cheesy lines like "katrina is the fourth khan" and "salman can be james bond" blah blah..dont let success get to yah head too much..these statements hes makin are just stupid and unasked for...we dont wanna know kabirr...n bdw ent hatin lol
Kabir please.... Stop making such statements or people will stop taking you seriously.... Salman as Bond??? Joke of the year.. Bond is very charming and elegant in his behaviour, and Salman isn't even close to how Bond behaves... Agree with people like Akshay or Hrithrik can do it... Even SRK is a better choise.. But I think a young guy should play Bond for one times sake.. Like Ranbir or Imran.. Or even Emraan could do it, as he's a serial kisser, just like James bond :P...
Salman Khan is Salman Khan, his brand is definitely bigger in India than James Bond's.

I like the following actors, but they would not fit the role:
farhan akthar ... has diction problems just like his dad and sister
ajay devgan ... look wise wouldn't fit
akshay kumar ... his smile and teeth doesn't fit and he can not carry the cool and serious JB
aamir ... too short
salman ... too dabbang, wanted, ready and bodyguardish kind of character and too short and stiff
Hrithik ... too good looking
abay deol ... too roundish face ... btw i like his movies
emran ... definitely too short/ordinary looking ... though his a good actor, has a hollywood movie
saif ... tried it with AV and failed, so out of question
ranbir kapoor ... though almost 30, he is too young too play JB, actually emran is also too young
imran khan ... same ... to young

I always thought that Akshay will be good for the role of indian James Bond. He has everything for that kind of roles but as usual directors casting him for silly comedies... Akshay is good for James bond, Hritik for Dhoom, Shahrukh for Don, Ajay for Omkara, Salman for Dabang...
Only Hrithik/Aamir can somewhat justify dat role.. Salman Nayyyy hez gud only upto playng bollywood dabbang.. SRK a big Noo.. Action movies r nt @ all his cup of tea.. we all saw what a disaster RA1 or ne of his action movies were.. hez best in dng romantic roles or Swades Chakde. types. evn Saif has d looks but nt James Bond charisma..

James Bond role demands a gentleman character and not a serial woman-beater, sorry Kabir.
Kabir Khan is cracking me up! Salman will be a terrible James Bond. His dialogue delivery sucks. He does not have the swagger nor global appeal that a James Bond needs. Taking off his shirt won't cut it.
