At Rs.21.10 crore, record opening for 'Dabangg 2'

"Dabangg 2", the sequel to 2010 Bollywood blockbuster "Dabangg" has managed to surpass the opening day collections of the original movie. It amassed Rs.21.10 crore in India on the day of its release - largely because it released across a greater number of sccreens.

The movie, starring Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha, opened across 2,500 screens Friday against 1,800 for the previous one.

The directorial debut of actor-producer Arbaaz Khan, "Dabangg 2" opened to packed houses and managed to rake in Rs. 21.10 crore on the opening day itself.

It is said to one of the highest opening for any non-holiday release in Bollywood till date. "Dabangg 2" surpassed the first day collections of even Akshay Kumar's "Rowdy Rathore", which earned Rs.15 crores. It was a non-holiday release too.

The original "Dabangg" was directed by Abhinav Kashyap, and it had managed to rake in Rs.14.5 crore on its first day, nationally.

These records whether they are true or not dont really matter....anyways i am happy for them congratulations.

Well it's not a "record" per se, but we can predict what other invented "records" will be broken in future:

-Record for highest opening day collections for a movie that opened on a rainy day.

-Record for highest opening day collections for a movie that released on the same day of the KBC finale, important cricket game, or MC Hammer concert.

-Record for highest opening day collections for a multistarrer where everyone dies in the end.

Etc, etc, etc... the amount of "records" that can be broken is only limited to the imagination. But anyway it is a holiday weekend, no matter how they spin it, the Dabbbaanngg team still leaned on that crutch.

Kitty aunty why cant you comprehend a simple statistic ? is it because Salman is ruling while fatty aish has become irrelevant ?

I confess I am a Priyanka Chopra fan and I hate all actresses. Do not be fooled by my DP. Sometimes we support other actresses like Aish and Bips to hide our true intentions. We are a big team all belong to Pc PR. we are hired to shoot down and hate all actors.
I am not paid to hate Salman but till the day he gives PC a shared movie, I vow to hate him

SINCERELY,

KITTY

LOL @kitty ur last comment is so funny!

@Kitty Do you realize the person leading the Dabangg Team, Salman khan, needs to break his own record? The competition is Salman Khan himself.

by saying, largely because of huge no of screens you are wrong . how many films are released like this (almost all the recent biggies of all A lister stars have increased screens )and every film with more screens dont get this kind of response from public ,ESPECIALLY on a working day and u know it.
BUT guessing you are not a fan of Salman Khan so atleast state the facts since u r a writer.
if its too much to write something nice on salman than dont try .

Sir what do you mean by saying, largely becase of huge no of screens.

No of screeens cannot gurantee collections of a movie. Audience has to go also.
There are so many movies which inspite of being released on holidays are no where near such collections. So when you write a story, present it correctly,& do not misuse the power of writing.
