The Indian film industry's biggest stars like Dilip Kumar, Yash Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan and to southern superstar Rajinikanth to high profile politicians like Praful Patel flocked to the big bash organised here Wednesday to usher in the living legend Amitabh Bachchan's 70th birthday. The red carpet was rolled out for as many as 800 guests at the Reliance Media Work, Film City, Goregaon.
Amitabh's best in last 10 years
After going through a low phase, the career of megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who turns 70 Thursday, has been on a roll since 2000. From "Mohabbatein" to "Paa", the actor has brought various characters alive on screen in the last decade, which in some way or the other is close to reality. Watch out for 'Love', 'On The Road' at Mumbai fest
French, Italian, British and Indian - expect a heady mix of cinema from across the world at the forthcoming 14th Mumbai Film Festival, to be held here Oct 18-25. International award-winning films like "Love" and "On The Road" will be screened during the gala. Movie buffs will be in for a treat during the festival, presented by Reliance Entertainment and American Express and organized by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image. Special event segments are dedicated to French, Italian, Afghan and Indian cinema this year, as well as to silent films accompanied by a live orchestra.
Amitabh grooves like 17 at 70!
He has given Bollywood some iconic dance steps during his prime, and even in the new millenium, megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who turns 70 Thursday, has continued at his grooviest best. 'Jalpari' wins award at Cannes
Nila Madhab Panda's "Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid" has won the MIP Junior Kids Jury Awards 2012, at Cannes. It is the first Hindi film to win this honour. MIP Junior Kids Jury award, an international showcase for children and youth programmes and films, was divided into three categories -- Tweens (11-14 years), Kids (7-10 years) and Pre-school (3-6 years) -- which included both live action and animation in every category, read a statement.
