Akshay, Twinkle blessed with daughter

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar and his wife Twinkle Khanna were blessed with a daughter Tuesday morning. This is the couple's second child after 10-year-old son Aarav.

"Twinkle was blessed with a baby girl this morning," Twinkle's mother, veteran actress Dimple Kapadia, told IANS.

Twinkle delivered the baby at the Breach Candy Hospital here.

"Both mother and daughter are fine," Vijay Zaveri, a family friend told IANS.

Akshay has been busy promoting his forthcoming film "Oh My God", set to release Friday. He was by his wife's side to welcome their daughter.

The United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) has
appointed Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as its International Goodwill Ambassador.

She will raise global awareness on protecting children from HIV infection and increasing access to antiretroviral treatment.

The appointment came a day before the start of the annual debate at the UN General Assembly. Aishwarya has been involved in humanitarian issues for many years and will now have a special focus on HIV/AIDS, Xinhua reported.

Mumbai Film Fest to honour Waheeda Rehman

Veteran actress Waheeda Rehman will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the forthcoming 14th Mumbai Film Festival.

The eight-day fest starts here Oct 18 and it is being organised by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI).

"This year we have decided to award the Lifetime Achievement Award to Waheeda Rehman for the extraordinary work she has put in the last 60 years," Shyam Benegal, filmmaker and chairman of MAMI, told reporters at a conference here Monday.

Actor Hrithik Roshan is such a big fan of Sridevi that he has decided to postpone his flight to attend the screening of the actress' comeback film "English Vinglish" on Oct 4.

The actor was shooting for an ad film at Mehboob Studio when he came to meet Sridevi in her vanity van. She was busy giving interviews to the reporters for her upcoming film.
