Megastar Amitabh Bachchan's magic touch and powerful campaign "Sirf gyaan hi aapko aapka haq dilaata hai (Only knowledge gets you what you deserve)", has helped the opening episode of "Kaun Banega Crorepati 6" (KBC) in getting maximum eyeballs. The show, which went on air Sep 7, has registered a 6.1 television rating (TVR).
The show, which was originally telecast on Star Plus when it was launched in 2000, is being aired on Sony since 2010. This season has bagged the highest opening out of all three seasons on the channel.
While the episode aired Sep 7 received a 6.1 TVR, the episode aired on the following day earned a 5.3 TVR, according to television audience measuring agency TAM.
The show is said to have had the highest opening this year across all shows on all general entertainment channels, says Sneha Rajani, senior executive vice president and business head, SET.
"We were confident that viewers would really enjoy watching this season of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'. The numbers more than corroborate this. We are really pleased with the opening week results and there is a lot more to look forward to on the show in the days to come," Rajani said in a statement.
"Overall, we are delighted at the performance of all our shows and over the next four to five weeks we aim to further consolidate our position," she added.
Produced by Big Synergy Media Ltd, this season of KBC was launched at the weekend slot from Friday to Sunday. The opener saw a special rendition of a powerful narrative on knowledge, by Big B in his distinct baritone.
This season has already got its first crorepati in Manoj Kumar Raina from Kashmir.

Are you Ready For Fun goo.gl/vuzOZ Me Also Ready For Fun Fun?
The first two seasons of KBC were exciting and were interesting. Now, except for some thirst to gain some knowledge, i have lost interest in watching it. Previously, the charisma of Amitabh made me glued to the television. But now, he is seen once in every hour on TV and so i feel that he has lost his value.
Now, also i see the show, but after few minutes i start surfing other channels, as it is same old stuff of contestants praising the star and the usual drama, questions, voting, lifelines…….
May, be all fans of Amitabh may feel disappointed with my comment and may also feel like killing me. But i think most of us will agree with me. Earlier, this big man was seen very rarely and so we had to wait for KBC, in order to have a glimpse of him. But now, all is gone as the star in order to earn money for his family is seen every now and then.
Anyway, for next season, if the prize money gets doubled up and if an innovation is introduced into the competition, then it can change the game all together.
More grease to his elbows, cheers!
On the expected lines. He may nt get u good openings a boxoffice but he is badshah of small screen. This is due to the reason that majority of his fans dnt go to theatre unless a 3 idiots kinda movie comes but they dnt miss KBC's single episode.
