After a promising opening day collection of Rs.12.10 crore, Rohit Shetty's action-comedy "Bol Bachchan" went nearly houseful on the weekend and amassed Rs.50.13 crore by Monday.
Said to be inspired by 1979 movie "Gol Maal", "Bol Bachchan", made on a budget of Rs.70 crore, features Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Asin Thottumkal and Prachi Desai.
The movie collected over Rs.43.10 crore during the weekend after it released July 6. Post the opening day collection of Rs.12.10 crore, the movie made Rs.14 crore on Saturday, and approximately Rs. 17 crore.
Presented by Fox Star Studios, the Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision and Ajay Devgn Ffilms- produced movie is reportedly Devgn and Shetty's biggest opener, having generated 36 per cent higher figures than "Singham" and around 43 per cent bigger than "Golmaal 3".
Distributor Rajesh Thadani of Mumbai-based Multimedia Combine, says the film did well on Sunday and there wasn't a big dip in the footfalls Monday.
"'Bol Bachchan' has done pretty well all over India during the weekend. It had a business of Rs.38 crore all over India. The film picked up quite well on Sunday, and there was not a great fall on Monday either," Thadani told IANS.
A comical entertainer, "Bol Bachchan" has been able to pull in audiences in large numbers.
"It is basically family audience that came together to enjoy the film," Delhi-based distributor Joginder Mahajan, told IANS.
"The film has got a tremendous response. It managed to collect Rs.7.80 crore in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and Rs.3 crore in Punjab in first three days. Since school holidays got extended, lots of families came in to watch the movie together and had a good time, said Mahajan.
Piyush Raizada, director, Delight Cinema says despite rains, it was nearly a houseful for "Bol Bachchan".
"The movie has received an amazing response and is appreciated among classes and masses. It did extraordinarily well on Friday and Saturday, and went houseful despite the rains," Raizada told IANS.
Internationally too, "Bol Bachchan" is doing extremely well when compared to other recent releases overseas.
It earned a total of $2.06 million over the weekend -- $540,000 (US), $255,000 (Britain), $650,000 (Middle East), $167,000 (Australia) and $450,000 from the rest of the world.

wow i cant believe he actually got a hit after so many flops. but good for him. i wish he continues on making more and more successful movies. and i dont get why so many people hate him. i mean i find him to be pretty entertaining and he can also act decently if not the best in the world. so screw the haters. good luck ab.
This is the best bet for AB...his career is more or less over....he always needs someone...here it's Ajay...can't carry the movie solo....
What a joke...
BOL BACHCHAN is #8 in the entire world box office this week (ahead of Katy Perry's new movie, Tyler Perry's new movie & even Woody Allen new movie From Rome with Love) & it's #20 US box office, check yahoo! Finance. How the heck did AB manage to pay off the international media to promote his son? Don't just talk trash. MAKE SOME SENSE HATERS!!!!

Nobody in the cast or production claimed BB to be an intellectually stimulating artsy movie! It was meant to be an entertainer.
LMAO kina expected even Abishek knew that's why now he is doing these mindless films
If Asin accepts a movie it will be a sure shot blockbuster.. The only movies which she missed is London Dreams in Hindi and Alwar in Tamil.. All her other movies are hits or blockbusters.. Surely she is a beauty with brains..
abhishek looked gay in most of the movie...ajay did an incredible job....
The first commentor who wrote about Amitabh must be living in a world where they think everyone is as mean as them. For your information : I have seen the movie, the theatre was packed and no one left till the end titles completed. I do agree that the movie is not a wow film, but it is a family entertainer which is neat without nudity and vulgarity. Abhishek rocked with his comic performance. And yes, these days such 2 hr time pass movies become a hit. Meaningful movies like Guzarish don't draw the general public. So, do you think Salman paid the media when Dabang, Ready and Bodyguards were a hit ? And why would Amitabh wait this long to pay for his son, when he never did it in the last 10 years.
If you cannot appreciate someone atleast be quiet, don't write to pour your jealousy here.
Loved Abhishek Bachchan & Archana Puran Singh...
asin must be lucky!
I am soooooooooo HAPPY for Abhishek! He should do more comedies, he ROCKS in them!
"i think Amitabh paid media and box office to declare bol bachchan a hit and save his dumb son's career. its a horrible movie . ppl were walking out of the movie half way through . i am surprised by these numbers"

Wow, haters will come up with the weirdest ideas. The media is now helping AB promote his son? Why did AB not pay them off prior to Bol Bachchan? Did AB also pay off the international media to report on the earnings overseas?
For your information, BB is the usual mindless movie from Bollywood which make a lot of money.
best of Abhishek.
Yes it is.
so is it a HIT?
Very happy for Abhishek.
