The cast and crew of latest James Bond film "Skyfall" felt it was "too ambitious" to shoot certain action sequences for the movie in India, but producer Barbara Broccoli says they haven't ruled out coming to the country for a new 007 instalment, and won't even mind roping in an Indian Bond girl in future.
"We certainly are on a lookout for talented beautiful women. If we make a film in India, we will have an Indian actress," Broccoli said during a web conference from New York with reporters here.
Directed by Sam Mendes, the latest super spy thriller "Skyfall", starring Daniel Craig, is set to release in India Nov 1. The movie features British actress Naomie Harris as the Bond girl, who is usually marked for her glamorous and sophisticated demeanour.
The choice of Bond girl for every 007 movie depends purely on the character, says Broccoli.
"Normally when we are casting for a Bond woman, our casting director looks for Bond women all around the world, and then we go through several rounds (of auditions) for that. And then finally when we reach the finalists, we bring them into Britain to meet Daniel (Daniel Craig).
"Lots of people are considered, it comes down to what the character requires and in this film ('Skyfall'), we needed a British female agent working alongside Bond," she added.
A key action sequence of "Skyfall" was due to be shot in India. The producers wanted to shoot high-speed stunts on the Indian Railways, and had requested for clearances to shoot on the rooftop of a moving train, as well as inside a tunnel. However, they faced a few stumbling blocks in getting permission due to safety and security issues, and decided to shoot elsewhere.
Broccoli says the complexity of the scenes would have made it very difficult to shoot in India.
"Typically, we do visit various countries when we are looking to find locations. So we did come to India to look (for locations). Because of the complexities with the title sequence... we did have a big chase with the cars and the motorcycle and trains.
"We looked at India as a possibility, but given the traffic, the complexities of having to shoot such a big scene, we would have had to shove off many roads and cause a lot of disruption. we felt it would be too ambitious to do the scene in India," she said.
This wouldn't have been the first instance of an India connect in a Bond film.
Parts of the 1983 Bond film "Octopussy", which featured Indian actors Kabir Bedi and Vijay Amritraj, were shot in Udaipur.
Broccoli says they would love to come back to the country for another project.
"We had a wonderful time shooting 'Octopussy' in India. We had fun and it looked absolutely beautiful on screen. We know we have a lot of fans in India so we would love to have the opportunity to come back to India as soon as possible," she said.

We all know it is only a few minutes role especially if it is an indian girl in bond movie, so why make a big deal out of it?
I think Paoli Dam proved her chops as an actress and does well with grit. She would be a great Bond girl.

Shriya Saran is perfect, she has a classic Indian face and a good body with a good height unlike the deepikas and bipashas who look like men in drag

When and IF an Indian woman is cast as a leading lady in a James Bond film, you can rest assured that it will be NONE of the women mentioned on this post.
Hispanic accents are very annoying....Penelope and Salma both have very irritating accents.
The best accent on a Bond girl is French.

Personally, I think Diana Penty would make a great Bond girl - it would be good to see her in a different avatar to her shy one in Cocktail. Skin colour? Really? I don't think that matters.

I agree the exotic looking actresses are PC, Deepika, Esha and Bipasha...Sushmita sen is also a great actress but she is getting much older. I also don't mind Diana Penty but I think she is a better model.

I'll add Hannah Simone to that list! If Megan Fox and Olivia Wilde can go from being TV actresses to Hollywood hotties and Action film stars then why can't these girls? Completely agree with you on Indira Varma and Lisa Ray though, their Bond girl role is long overdue.
Bond girls don't need to act....they just stand around looking beautiful and bedding BOND...so Katrina is the perfect choice.

I dont understand why so many people on PV think Katrina isnt Indian or has 'white' beauty? She does not look European, she has black hair, dark brown eyes, and very strong desi features. She just has fair skin, as do many actresses on Bollywood. And yes Im aware her mother is English but Katrina does not look European. She would make a good Bond girl too as she is tall, slim, and has speaks good english without that HORRIBLE accent people like Kareena have!

Nice observation. But I don't think if the Bond team ever takes any Indian actress then they will choose someone different from their usual bond girls.
May be typical desi looks. Anushka, Deepika, Bipasha all has bold feature and supermodels looks.
Deepika is too much overrated in pinkvila. I think Sonam will be perfect for Indian bond girl. She is tall, her skin tone is just perfect not dusky neither fair and very beautiful famine face. May be Sonakshi will be a good choose. She's get an expressive eye.

Bips looks more like LARA CROFT in these pictures but I agree she would make a gorgeous bond girl. PC will be a lovely choice as well they both can act and look seductive. they are both bold and beautiful for this role.if they just want an Indian girl not particularly from bollywood I think Frieda pinto will be a good choice as well.
dipika knows only thing to poke her chest in front and without pad she doesn't have a nice posture.
