Actress Anushka Sharma has replaced Prachi Desai as the face of SOFY, a brand of sanitary napkins from Japan-based FMCG company Unicharm.
Anushka has been roped in for her "bubbly and vivacious personality and portrayal of strong characters" in movies like "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi", "Band Baaja Baaraat" and "Ladies V/S Ricky Bahl".
The 24-year-old is excited about her association.
"I'm keen to create a new era where all Indian women will take pride in being a woman," Anushka said in a statement.
She has shot a television commercial for the brand, and says: "I wish to convey to every girl out there that she should no longer be worried about staining."
"Also through this association, I would like to introduce to them a product which is revolutionary in its own way and brings to the consumer an extension of comfort that helps them lead an active life," she added.
Prachi was named the brand ambassador for SOFY in July 2011.

Haha..it is like she is campaigning for the president of India...Dear Anu..you don't have to look stupid in order to sell a product but thanks for "empowering" us..lol
we have offically lost Indian Culture!!
k honestly i fear the actresses of our generation as they our taking our culture down hil in the name of "women pride or women power!" DISGUSTING!!
filmychica-totaly agree with you!!
We women are proud of who we are but that does not mean we want her private concerns to be out in public!!
P.S And i love how these actress have a such a big iusse talking about their so called "peronal life" but have no shame or problem expoliting their private issues that one should keep to them self!
P.S.S I'm pretty sure indian women or just women in general proabaly feel more dignified and respected if their private issues are undiscoverd!
P.S.S.S there is this saying a women is looked upon as an angel and man looks at her as if she is perfect!! no man even wants to know what are private concerns!!
LOL

y say such things? Indian women already are (with a few exceptions) and i know 'pads' aren't the reason behind those. jeeze. lame.
lol it's funny how dramatic she sounds. what's so revolutionary about this???
and that statement ""I wish to convey to every girl out there that she should no longer be worried about staining."
LMAO! really.
its funny that actresses and actors in India endorse all kind of products while in Hollywood actors and models do their own jobs.
It is strange seeing a celebrity attached to a sanitary towel.
"I wish to convey to every girl out there that she should no longer be worried about staining." - Er.. um.. okay..
i know you will get paid for it but still it is so embarrassing to go around endorsing throat lozenges and pencil cases just for money. wheres the big names like armani , gucci, calvin klein that we frequently see in ads in america/england.
I am very open minded but imagine if you were Anushka''s brother or father n u saw this on tv lol how embarassing and awkward it would be for them
if i was celebrity i wont do any endorsements like these or personal things like skin cream, etc.... i would stick to watches, electronics, clothes, cars, in those fields. also discount lol
why was prachi replaced anyway?
Celebrities endorse everything in India, it's crazy.
these people will do anything for money....yuck
LOL @ Mon, 2012-07-23 13:23 — Anonymous... I know! I thought it was weird seeing Shilpa Shetty's ads for sanitary napkins too!
What is so great about replacing someone and endorsing sanitary napkins ?
Oh My, I never knew these actresses are desperate to endorse pads, condoms and inner wear.
Is she going to show us how to use it by demonstrating the process ?
A pad is a pad! Nothing revolutionary about it. *yawn*
only in india do celebrity endorse sanitary napkins.
eww!
Anushka......I am cringing here. All that second-hand smoke you inhaled from sitting behind SRK's bike has gone to your brain.
