Celebs on TwitterWed, 2010-03-03 12:43 — unthinkableHey Guys ... And I was wondering what u all thought about it considering what these celebs say in their tweets LITERALLY makes headlines all the time Do you think its ANOTHER way for these stars to promote themselves or does it really not matter cuz it in a way makes u feel like they r more human by directly contacting some of us? When the whole Aishwarya controversy happened, Abhi took on to twitter to talk about it. When Abhi praised his own father on twitter for PAA he got a backflash from haters and he actually fought back. Recently, preity zinta talked about registiring an FIR and had to wait for 5 hrs like a common person (yet shared it on twitter so it kinda beat the whole purpose of doing it like a common man), Deepika Padukone indirectly talked about how stupid linking her with shahid was, celina fought off a few haters who told her to quit acting but ANY EITHER WAY giving actors a voice rather than the voice thru media, this one isnt filtered! Anyways so do u guys care that they r on twitter? is it another gimick? or does it really not matter? BTW THE MOST EXCITNG TWITTER ENTRY OFF ALL WAS THE MOST RECENT ONE - SHAMMI KAPOOR love him simply! |

Hehehe thanks unthinkable! :) It sure did pay off xoxo & you go bollywood, it's good to relax sometimes lol. xoxo
I think its gr8 somestars rite to their fans. i got many replys 4rm new stars of bolly. and was lucky enough to get rply's from priyanka and rani.
dreamy u made me log in. hehe. couldnt help myself.xx
Aish won't tweet- she likes to keep that 'distance', which is important in making that 'goddess' selling image... Abhi will do it on behalf of her. Abhi is a nice hubby, really. tweeting takes work and appearing human, and getting on the level of the public... and anyhow, Aish's priorities seem to be her family...
can you imagine her tweeting and answering quetions about her artificial makeup (like Celina did and told the tweeter to take a hike).. and taking advice, et all. no, she won't. she seems set and firm and distant.
most of these stars will not bother to tweet, as they hate appearing human & on the level of the 'people'.. they want to be remote and appear a lone distant star... it's that fake image they build that the fans love. most of these big stars would be too clever to ever be a big fan to anyone else.. are they? no.
I think eventually most stars will come on twitter since everybody is slowly starting up on it and its in the news everyday for what this star said and what that star said either to each other or for each other ...so out of curosity or wanting to be a part of it, most ppl might! And I personally think Aishwarya will join twitter eventually! Her hubby is on it! lol and i think she did tweet once from his account ...
Anyways I agree with the anonymous below who said Priyanka has this niche of being really interactive with her fans and she actually does get personal...I was just on her twitter and she took a picture of one of her fans(Who also happens to have a twitter) and tagged him .... (so she makes it personal- she makes herself feel like she can be touched if that makes any sense!) lol and I find Shahid kapoors tweets really boring!....He doesnt share anything worthwhile I feel like lol and doesnt really tweet to his fans that often
I find abhisheks tweets snobby tooo
But at the end of the day they all have to interact with us as we are their bread and butter .... But twitter gives them that platform where they can be one on one!
Also Lara Dutta does 8 questions and answers everyday, think thats cool!
But glad u r doing good dreamy! Hope all that studying paid off!MUAHHHH x0x0
Hey there Anonymous below! Firstly, thanks so much for your kind words :)You're such a sweetheart! I also wholeheartedly agree with you on the tweets. At the end of the day, I guess it's just big enough for us fans that we're actually able to view and reply back to the stars regardless of whether they reply back or not. I remember Shahid Kapoor saying how he reads every single tweet but just isn't able to respond back to each - which is fair enough.
Coming back to Priyanka as well as the rest of the stars, I agree with you. Afterall, they're all human as well & it's basically impossible to portray this happy/carefree sort of attitude 24/7 so I understand why at times celebs tend to act this way. I think it's best for all of us to just not get too attached to them because yeah, at the end of the day, it's their job to sell themselves out there & when you're such a huge star, fans are likely to be swarming all over you & considering how all of them are such workaholics, even a small percent of time taken out for their fans from their busy agenda I'd say is enough for me.
Hello again Dreamy Girl.. good insights here.
about the tweets, glad you're not taking it to heart. thinking about their tweets, some of them have over 200,000 followers, etc. could they be running a software of their mobile or laptop... to block out any tweets except from whom they are following? it would be impossible to even have 400 followers and read their tweets all day. also, some of think if they answer a tweet, they may get over-tweeted by that 'obsessive' fan.. most of these stars have learned to 'block' out fans. most of them cannot distinguish between genuine fans and obsessive fans. that's kind of sad but a reality-- as to them, there are too many fans. take Aishwarya, if she tweeted, she probably would be so overloaded as she probably has the most loyal and largest fans... and that's sad, because ultimately, it's her fans which made her to the cult status she is.
About the Priyanka episode, who knows about these stars? maybe she grew up and learned to respect her fans-- but she had stated that when she won Miss World, due to a bogus raud lawsuit on her family, she could trust no one back then. yes, she was very very warm recently (surprisingly humble too), but it's best to not get involved or have expectations. but then again, who knows what really is in the mind of the stars.. stardom must be a career to them..
it's best to enjoy the stars as they are: image sellers. anything beyond that will be crushing, as for every one star, there are at least thousands of fans, if not millions. no wonder everyone wants to be a star...
anyhow, Dreamy Girl, you are a star of Pinkvilla!! :)
Awwwwww thanks anonymous below :) Well I mean I do realise that they all live extremely hectic lives out there, I just get a bit upset after tweeting a lot of times with no reply back - not even a simple hello. Of course I don't take it to heart or anything. I guess since I'm such a huge Bollywood fan, I get slightly emotional sometimes lol. Coming back to the Priyanka episode, I would say that it wasn't just me but some other people I spoke too as well who had heard stories about Priyanka's attitude that day & these were people who actually knew the sponsors of the show & heard them discussing about it. All in all, I think it was just one of "those" days for Priyanka - maybe she was just tired/sick hence it seemed like she didn't seem very nice to us which is fully understandable. She could be a genuine human being in reality though like you said.
Welcome back Dreamy Girl!! So nice to see your comments again...
hmmm.. about the tweets, does your impression if they do not tweet back give you the feeling that they may be snobby, or just busy? perhaps they feel if they answer one, they may have to answer them all, which will take all day... one never knows what goes on the minds of these stars, despite their cool or casual or goddess image-- in the end, they're SELLING an image.
recall once, you had mentioned that you met Priyanka and she was a snob to those around her. we recently saw her at NYC, and remembered that and expected a snob, but in fact-- she seemed the opposite. she was warm, kind and mingled with everyone- wanted to hang out all night.. so sometimes, the impressions can be changed for the better as well...
I've been great hun :) Just been a bit busy with studies and all therefore wasn't able to come on that much...Awwwww that's great! Lol I don't know how many times I've tweeted Shahid man - no response :<
Some stars tweet and some do not want to do that (ie. Aishwarya does not).
Tweet puts ppl in the limelight and 'on the spot'. ie. ppl can tweet u anything.. ranging from love to hate tweets to advice no one wants (recently Celina was tweeted to change her makeup and told the tweeter to bug off). some stars who are image-driven may also not like it, because tweets will not allow you to hide the # of followers you have (hence everyone knows the star's popularity in real #s).
It's surprising (but not really), that Priyanka is Bollywood is a top tweeter/has a very large following. This is why she was invited to their office. Her tweets are good-- concise yet gives an interesting story. A lot of stars tweet, but do not connect and mention too much boring details or get too vague (one Bollywood starlet actually tweets what she's going to eat for lunch, etc.. come on! stop with the boring details, tweeters!).
Priyanka finds the right balance. She's actually quite sharp, meeting her in person. She really feels the energy of the audience very fast and can handle people naturally (though she claims to be actually shy). plus read she's always been a text/gadget type of person-- so it's natural for her.
Tweeting is now the next step after TV and magazine interviews. Yes, it's a way for stars to connect. but for now, most stars will make it one way, ignoring most of the tweeters and going on their merry way of image -building.
MISSED YOU TOOO DREAMY GIRL!
HOW THE HELL HAVE U BEEN?!
I gots several replies from Vivek Oberoi and Priyanka (Two of my favorites) so I was happy! lol And minisha Lamba too
I'm actually surprised at how most of them don't even reply back to tweets! Yes, I know they're extremely busy people but it wouldn't hurt to type a few words would it? I did manage to get some replies back from Dia Mirza & Shahzahn Padamsee though - lovely people! Coming back to your question unthinkable, I think the majority of them just see it as a medium through which they can connect with their fans I guess.
P.S MISSED YOU BY THE WAY! :)
