Launching her fourth label 'Anita Dongre Timeless' at Lakme Fashion Week, Anita Dongre paid homage to the state of Rajasthan with 'Jaipur My Jaipur'. "Everything about Jaipur inspires me as I have spent my childhood there. Each garment took three months to create, right from sourcing the fabric to the embroidery," she told us backstage.
Though the timeless looks are cross-generational, business means appealing to a younger clientele, and Dongre scored with this set by opening the showing with bubble minis and moving on to a 48-panelled skirts teamed with jersey bodysuits. The collection was a kaleidoscope of colours and styles characteristic of Rajasthan with bandhani, lehriya and buttee motifs adding to the pastoral feel.
Dongre's commitment to the cultural heritage of the state's textiles and crafts yielded solid looks, including velvet kurtas, embroidered harem pants, full-circle bandhani kurtas embellished with silver borders and georgette buttee-embroidered saris
