What do you think of male fashion in Bollywood?Tue, 2011-01-25 14:50 — freudian_slipPart of being an Indian filmi hero is the terrible, terrible clothes: leather pants, over-bright t-shirts, sequinned vests, transperant clothing, tacky belt buckles...none of our heroes have the style, finesse and sophistication of their western counterparts (except in a handful of movies)
So, my question is: do you think that it is unfair to compare Bollywood style to international films made with bigger budgets and better stylists and that it suits Indian tastes and fits the bright, cheerful nature of Bollywood movies OR that it is an unpardonable fashion crime that is influencing an entire nation of men to dress tackily? It's loud and garish, absolutely hideous

I wish Bollywood would take a cue from male stars in other cinema industries, it's really embarassing!

Thanks for the post! been looking for information like this for awhile.
Bollywood men are the worst dressed people on the planet. Just look at the popular kind sof fashion in Bollywood:
Bright, cheap, floral shirts
Shirts unbuttoned to show hairy, unwaxed chests
Tight, figure-hugging t-shirts
Sequinned/ glitter vests and pants
Velvet clothes
In any other country if a straight (not gay) man wore these clothes people would laugh at him and the press would ridicule him. In Bollywood even the so-called action heroes and macho men wear such rubbish. So trashy and wannabe
None of the above:
While the style is bad, do they need to be a Hollywood-copy cat?
Bollywood stars need to develop their own fab style like the females have done with the saree, which is tasteful, cool. they need not copy Hollywood.
I agree with your assumption.
