Why is India giving so much attention to a porn Star?

Sunny Leone is barely a porn star by American standards. She is more beautiful than a pornstar. She is much smarter than a porn. She is friendlier than any pornstar, and she is much more self determined than any pornstar I know of. She is also honest about her life and who she is (almost unheard of in porn) She has always been very careful about the kind of pornography she participated in and always makes sure no really bad (unflattering) pictures of her are shown on the internet or in her movies. She is a tireless self promoter and almost never actually talks vulgarly unless in the context of an actual sex movie. Her goal is to maximize her popularity by whatever means she can as she is getting to the age where she will probably retire from porn soon. India, as she herself has said "is a tremendous opportunity for me". I believe she will make the most of her opportunities in India and then try to break in to mainstream cinema and TV in Canada and then America. She says she loves India but what she really means is that she loves that India loves her. And for her, this translates into money. She was born and raised in a small town in Canada and worked hard to seamlessly assimilate into Canadian society. She could not have even become a pornstar in the first place had she gone to a Sikh school and spoke in Hindi and wore a saree. She really is a good Canadian girl after all , at least I want to think so...Way to go Sunny.

because she is another firangi that Indians will worship. All of the fair movie star wannabees, pornstars from all over come to India to pursue their dreams, bc they know you don't need talent. Oh well, at least she makes an effort to speak hindi and doesn't lie about her past. If katrina got a chance, she should too. Ever since, katrina came and actually became successful, bollywood is going in a downward spiral. this opened doors to so many talentless imports to do tiny bit roles and item songs in movies, bollywood is going downhill. and to think this is the same industry that produced madhuri, sridevi, kajol, rani. How disgusting!

Yes I Agree with u completely as Its a really shame for India to do such things and even affecting it's culture for which ithas been famous since so many yrs.

Its gross that bollywood is cashing a pornstar ! Thats cheap and pathetic y ppl dont understand its not healthy and a progressive move to cast a pornstar , these ppl are not respected anywhere and are not allowed to work in mainstream cinema this doesnt even happen in america ! They belong to a diff world and shud remain there only she is promotIng her porn business and expanding her income through increasing indian fans . She never could get this much famous in her native country but here she is , porn isnot a respectful way of earning even in us or any other country but india us sex starved , its male dominatig where most indian men wants to see sunny leones type of girls for their sexual gratification and porn viewers are everywhere ! I agree! It's just coz she's imported maal! Indian media and public are hypocrites in this sense. They shout our culture, our heritage, but salivate at Rakhi Sawant or Kashmeera! And nowadays they are getting hotter imported items, so paying attention to them!
And it is a fact that anything ''foreign'' gets more attention in Indian media (much more than it deserves!). This is why NRI girls or models make news, Salman's firangi finds, who'd debut in his films, made news. And box office performance of a film among 1.3 billion people of India is ignored, media only makes big deal if some film managing to earn even some lakhs in another country!Everyone knows how Indian media also goes into an overdrive upon visit of a foreigner - like Prez Obama or Tom Cruise.
