Bipasha Basu has turned 30 on 7th. Though she still may be very sexy, she doesn't have too many movies in hand like she did in her 20s. She will be seen in art film Pankh, Rahul Dholakia's Lamhaa and Aa Dekhe Zara with Neil Nitin Mukesh. We check out what other 30 plus actresses have in their kitty.
Aishwarya Rai: Last seen in Sarkar Raj, she is a busy Queen Bee even at 35. Currently busy shooting for Mani Ratnam's Ravana with hubby Abhi, she is also busy with Shankar's Endhiran alongside Rajnikanth. Her international film, Pink Panther 2 will release in India in March. She also has Vipul Shah's film with Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt's home production. So that's one film up for release, four films in the making and she will sign a couple more.

Preity Zinta: Her performance in Heroes and The Last Lear won her several accolades and Deepa Mehta's Heaven and Earth has won Preity immense praise on the international festival circuit but why aren't we seeing more of the bubbly and zingy Preity in masala films anymore? The reason is she is 33 and 20 something actresses like Kareena and Katrina have taken her place. Her lack of work in Bollywood helps her pay attention to her IPL team. She has finished filming Har Pall with Eesha Koppikar and Shiney Ahuja and for an item number in Main aur Mrs Khanna. In 2009, she will be seen more frequently on the cricket field than on the silver screen.

Rani Mukerji: The former Queen Bee only does films for her special friends: Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra. Karan hasn't worked with Rani since Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna in 2006 and Rani's last YRF film, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic flopped and how! She will turn 31 this year and one YRF film with Shahid Kapur and the animated version of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai called Koochie Koochie Hota Hai is all that she has in her kitty.
Sushmita Sen: 33 year old Sush hasn't had a single release in 2008 but she made the news for her affair with Mudassar Aziz. Her last two films, Zindaggi Rocks and RGV ki Aag were major stinkers. Dulha Mil Gaya will finally release in 2008, her other film Karma, Konfessions and Holi is ready for release but hasn't found any takers in these times of recession and her dream project on Jhansi ki Rani will remain a dream as she is finding it difficult to finance the film. Moreover, she has gained so much weight that she looks like an aunty! And we know how Bollywood loves its skinny heroines, leaving no place for an ageing and plump Sush.

Lara Dutta: The former beauty queen will turn 31 this year. She will flaunt her toned hot bod in Blue and prove that she can act in Banda Yeh Bindaas hai and Billu Barber. These are not blockbuster or career making films. Because no one wants to work with her, she is writing a script for herself! She is in the news for her affair with Dino Morea. She is pretty, hot, smart and a good actress but the poor thing hasn't had any luck in Bollywood.

Kajol: She has put her marriage before her career and does films only for her hubby Ajay Devgan, Aditya Chopra, Karan Johar and some special friends in Bollywood like Aamir Khan. But when she puts on her acting shoes, the spontaneous actress makes a clean sweep at all the award functions, like she did with her performance in Fanaa. She had a special appearance in Rab ne Bana Di Jodi and has a big release this year: Karan Johar's My Name is Khan along with the animated version of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai called Koochi Koochie Hota Hai. Another animated film, Toonpur ka Superhero and a cameo in 3 Idiots is also something the actress turned homemaker has up her sleeve.

Vidya Balan: The 31 year old actress' has sadly been more in the news for her fashion then her acting skills - of which she has plenty. Milan Luthria's Bihaad with Ajay Devgan and Sanjay Dutt, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Chenab Gandhi with Big B and Harman Baweja and Vishal Bhardwaj's Ishqiya with Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi are the films she has up her sleeve. It is impressive that she is working with such excellent actors and directors after being in the industry for less than for years. These films will surely display her fine acting talent in a new light.

I hope that they all continue there careers with success. The "settled-down housewife" shouldn't be an option for them if they don't want that.
its also bout types of movies these actreses r seen in n their clout - aish is good in period films n rona dhona so she cn keep that up not many recent actreses hv period looks - also she has clout being bachcchan now
kajol will always hv johar n devgan movies
rani will always hv chopra movies
its like sridevi always had boney kapoor movies
preity doest hv that
other thing is producers n directors like fresh looks n whoevers in at that time to cash in - rani preitys face has been round for a long time, theyr nt news now so nothin to cash in on whereas with a achchan ur always cashing in e.g. shilpa in shut up n bounce total cashing in on big brother#!"
all these actreses need is good script n theyll b able to act their asses off
Aishwarya will continue for a million more years! I dont like rani
Rani is already back with DBH!
kajol has..
Ditto Unthinkable!
Cant believe Lara Dutta will be 31!...She has kept her body in a great shape!
Women age faster than men of the same age. It's a given fact. I also think that men of the industry take care of themselves more (esp in this day and age) more so than women do!...Also since as long as I can remember women oriented roles have been far in between!...Audiences, sadly, only care of the male actors of this industry! And Amitabh has started the trend of acting for as long as you can....so when we see srk, anil, salman, sanjay, aamir doing movies still...its cuz we keep watching these movies and loving them!...Rani and Priety are not working anymore...and I have to admit myself included I dont find rani and priety appealing anymore cuz they look "old" and "used" ... its unfortunate and I also feel like these actors have to KEEP UP with the actresses of today (in terms of fitness and freshness) ... Most of them have started to look like aunty jees and at da same time no one says "srl/sallu/akshay are getting old. We dont wann asee them anymore" The men rule the industry and sadly so...
they don't
Ash has one....
preity and aishwarya are better off dan da rest
if actresses really care and maintain there body like Bipasha and Lara have then they can go on but if they get married and don't care about their body then no way.
a nasty article with an annoying condescending tone.
The new faces that are entering the industry are beautiful but generic non the less, honestly Kajol has never been beautiful but unique. Bipasha, Aishwaryia, Lara are international stunners and are meant for something beyond India. So let crossing 30 mean leaving the Bollywood garbage behind, the West has a broader spectrum of opportunities waiting for these incredibly beautiful, talented and intelligent artists waiting for them.
our stupid indian movie industry is soo freaking biased! they cud have old male hags hand around likes pests dancing with females half their age.....it shows that all that the movie industry and the viewers care for is fresh young sluts who frolick around like skanks...there is no place for "acting" bar a few artsy or different movies.....stupid indian movie industry!!!
the best career award goes to JUHI guys!!
aish has, i dont know bout the other ones
nooo
Omg, if aging raggedy looking buddhas like srk, aamir and the other whathisface khan are still considered to be 'top' actors, wtf are they biased against women the moment she hits 30?
preity is doing yash chopra film with aamir khan
YOu mean they don't a future after their married!
kajol is the only one whose film releases are considered events like madhuri. the rest i don't think public cares too much about. rani has ruined her career and the youngistani crowd in a poll said that they want aishwarya to leave bollywood. she got 75% of the votes telling her to leave.
kajoool of course forever shes natural the best
gosh, who wrote this article?? the person seems to be an ass, the only person he's nice to is ash, he's pretty mean to everybdy else. i agree that agism does exist but i also think that with age ppl become wiser and choose their projects wisely. these r all well established actresses and dont wanna be signing movies left and right. now we dont wanna see rani and bipasha doing those b grade film and truthfully speaking how many good projects does bollywood churn out in a yr? the two movies that preity did were substantial roles, she's a well established actress, its not the quantity but the quality.
p.s i think sush looks fab, not plump and ragged like the author suggested, she might not had a super career but lookswise theres nothing to criticise
bipasha turned 31 not 30, her actual birth year is 1978 not 1979... i think actresses who didnt have much in their young age get to do lots of stuff after 30... be4 no actresses culd act after 30, now the industry is better.
aish looks sooooooooo hot in that pic and i think they do
