Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, born on 1 November 1973, was raised into a traditional south Indian family and while her father, Krishnaraj, was a biologist, her mother is a home-maker. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan won the Miss World 1994 pageant and later, became an actor. After relocating to Mumbai, Aishwarya planned to become an architect but later gave up her education to pursue modeling. In 1997, Aishwarya made her acting debut with Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film Iruvar. After a series of commercial unsuccessful movies, Rai earned recognition with the romantic drama Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and later, established herself as one of the most popular celebrities in India. Besides, Aishwarya is deeply involved in humanitarian work and created the ‘Aishwarya Rai Foundation’ to help poor people in India. In 2003, Aishwarya became the first Indian actress to be a jury member at the Cannes Film Festival. Before marrying actor Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya dated Salman Khan until they separated in 2002. Thereafter, Aishwarya married Abhishek in 2007 and in 2011, gave birth to a baby girl.
