Yes she can act but she needs a good director to make her performance really great. If it's a bad director she can be below average or average.

Fabulous actress! My favourite of nowadays! And I am not even Indian.... I really wonder why we need to do a poll to know that...Those who say she can't act are blind and hypocrite... Say can say she's not their favourite or they don't like her that much but at some point you have to be honest and admit that she can really be fantastic.

aishwarya has given the most heart touching like raincoat,chokher bali,devdas.hddcs,guzaarish,provoked(this one is the best of the decade...followed by rani's perf. in Black) etc.
SHe has even successfully played lighter roles like BnP(this movie n her performance is my absolute fav.will watch it again n again n again),action replayy(though a bad movie..ash did super job) ,pp2(with a super twist in her role) Even action...D2,raavan, (an applause worthy performance),the last legion etc.
Bollywood has gr8 actresses like rani,kajol,konkona,shahana.....but none of these can be as versatile as aish is..n still bring out a believable performance.She can do the heroine n actress job both victoriously.

Absolutely. For someone without any formal training in acting or without any filmy connections, she has done outstandingly well for herself. She has won critical acclaim, awards, appreciation and acceptance. She has had a successful 15 year career where she mostly did meaty roles and played versatile characters of substance. What more does she need to prove? Seriously, she has everything - Talent, Beauty, Grace, Manners, Respect, Success, Popularity, Loving family and huge fanbase, Dignity and Resiliance. Some desperate losers asses will definitely burn.
Russells will make her a soft target because she will never retort. The funniest thing is he has never seen an Indian film yet targets her. Moreover, did he not call all the Bollywood actors terrible? Of course he took Aishwarya's name because she is the only Indian actress he knows.
Not a big fan eh, but give her a good script and she will rock. I am yet to see Aishwarya perform badly in a well made film. She isn't great in films like Action Replay because the films themselves are bad. Aamir Khan was bad in Mela but that doesn't make him a bad actor. I've seen ZNMD, enjoyed it thoroughly but Katrina stuck like a sore thumb in a pool of good actors like Abhay, Farhan, Kalki and Hrithik. Now THAT is bad acting.

she is outstanding in some movies (raincoat, provoked, devdas, hum dil de chuke sanam, taal, chokher bali, raavanan, kandukondain, guru, jodhaa akbar) or just plain bad in some movies (albela, hum kisi se kum nahi).
If she has the right script she will reign.
