Ssharad Malhotra is one of the most handsome and ideal men one could ask for. The actor currently seen in Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki turns 35 today and has a successful career of over 12 years on Television.

Ditching the quintessential romantic role, Ssharad rose to fame playing a mentally challenged character in Banoo Mein Teri Dulhan. The actor then appeared in several movies like From Sydney with Love and Ek Tera Saath. Later, he returned to the small screen playing the titular role in Bharat Ka Veer Putra…Maharana Pratap.

Coming to his personal life, Ssharad is currently in a steady relationship with Pooja Bisht.

As Ssharad turns 35 today, we spoke to him about his birthday plans, his shows and his relationship with Pooja.

Here's an excerpt from the interview:

On Birthday plans:

As of now, my sister is coming down, I have my brother-in-law, cousin coming from Dubai and my friends. They are all planning a surprise for me. I guess I might be heading out of Mumbai for two days I think, it could a beachy destination because I love the beach so I am presuming that it might be Goa, but I am not sure.

Usually, I like to visit children care home a day in prior and spend some time with them, that is something I do every year and might do this year as well.

On Ideal birthday?

I like working on my birthdays, like half a day work and then celebrations. But, I think this year that is not going to happen because I will off on the 9th and the 10th.

On being a birthday person?

Honestly, we all do get excited about our birthdays because that is one day when we all are generally pampered by everyone. That is one day when you get all the importance, love and good wishes. For the past 12 years that I have been working, I have my fans who get more excited about it than me, perhaps. A lot of them have already started mailing, texting me. It feels nice to see all this.

On birthday surprises?

There have been surprises where I have had people sending in gifts anonymously. There are times when random people just ring my doorbell and leave gifts outside which is scary at times. Nonetheless, it feels good when you see so much love pouring in.

On his over 12-year successful journey:

It is been like a magical ride and to be honest, it has gone in a blink. I remember when I started shooting for my first show Banoo Mein Deri Dulhan, the first day of the shoot to now,  it has been a very long and hard journey. I have been emotionally drained out as you know Television is very demanding. Having said that my fan base has increased by over 10 manifolds. I have worked with the best from the industry, be it co-actors, technicians, producers. I have done three shows till now because for me it is about quality over quantity. Touchwood, all of been successful so far.

On similarities with his Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki character:

He (Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki character, Rishi) is a very typical Punjabi guy and I am a Punjabi too so somewhere I think we have a connect. The only thing is that Rishi in his young age was a Casanova kind, for him, love never existed but for Ssharad, I do believe in love a lot. I believe in the emotion of love and being loved as well. He is a fun-loving guy, so am I, he is stubborn and moody, so am I. I think Ekta Kapoor maybe had thought of me while sketching the character.

On being open to doing web series?

Absolutely. I think web content is doing really well. Why not, if there is a good opportunity, I would love to experiment. It could be a different medium but at the end, it is all about acting and your craft. It's been a beautiful balance of both, there have been some personal lows and high and professionally too. It has been a beautiful roller-coaster ride which I have absolutely loved.

On his relationship with Pooja Bisht:

I think people know that I am dating Pooja Bisht, I think it is great because for me love is very important. I believe that if you are personally happy, it reflects in your professional life as well. For me, it is important to have a nice, beautiful and sorted life which is difficult, of course, but it is important to adjust. I do not like the word 'ego' coming between a relationship. It is just plain simple love. Gradually, I have matured as well in a relationship. I have had my share of losses, so now you that what you did wrong in your previous relationship, you will improve now.

Speaking of Pooja, she is a lovely girl and she really understands me because it is difficult to understand me because as an actor you get cranky and moody because you deal with emotions all the time. Touchwood, it is going good and I hope it continues.

On being a marriage-phobic:

On marriage plans?

For me, it will be an instant thing like Maggi noodles (laughs). It will be on the spur of the moment. When the time comes that we will be able to tolerate each other all tour lives, we might get hitched sometime this year. Actually, it could be this year or any other year whenever I am ready, we will let everyone know.

Message to fans!

I love and adore my fans a lot. But please don't give m blank and prank calls at 12 at night which I have been getting for the last 7-8 years because that is the day you want to take up calls from your family, friends. Please, if you are calling me, talk to me if you want and if I am not available you can text me or mail me but thank you so much for all the love.
