Deepti Naval

Indian actress, director, and writer, Deepti Naval was born on 3rd February 1952 in Amritsar, Punjab but later shifted to New York due to her father's job. There, she studied Fine Arts at Hunter College. Later, she came back to India and started trying her luck in acting. She made her acting debut in the 1978 film, Junoon directed by Shyam Benegal. Later in 1979, she was seen in the film, Jallian Wala Bagh. However, it was in the year 1980 that she got her first lead role with the film Ek Baar Phir. Next, she started featuring in Parallel Cinema like veteran actresses Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi. Deepti was cast alongside actor Farooque Sheikh often and they soon became an iconic on-screen couple. They were seen in films like Chashme Baddoor, Kissi Se Na Kehna, Rang Birangi, Fassle, Tell Me O Kkhuda and many more. Other than Bollywood, she has also worked in several other language films such as Punjabi, Kannada and Marathi. The actress has also won several awards for her contribution to the industry. She has worked in numerous films throughout her acting career. Other than acting, she has also directed films like Do Paise Ki Dhoop, Chaar Aane Ki Baarish, etc. Apart from that, she is also a versatile poet and has written several poems and stories. Other than that, Deepti Naval is also a painter and a photographer.
