Alia Bhatt-Ranbir Kapoor ‘have to work even harder’ than outsiders, Imtiaz Ali defends the nepo kid label

Imtiaz Ali on Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt being labelled a nepo child
Imtiaz Ali shed light on a completely different facet of working with celebs like Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Addressing the elephant in the room, he hinted at the hidden burdens that come with directing stars labelled as ‘nepo child’, confessing that stars like them actually bring additional challenges.
He remarked, “I think that Alia, Ranbir, and many others from the film industry face additional challenges because they have successful examples around them. They must compete with their own family members to consider themselves successful in their own minds.”
According to him, those coming from outside have it easier, just like him. However, the experience would be different for his daughter. The Tamasha director added, “Ranbir is undoubtedly a prominent actor in the film industry today. You may label him a nepo child, but those doubts fade away because he is exceptional.”
Heaping praise on Alia, he opined that she is so remarkable “that you wouldn't resent her for landing a role; instead, you would wish for her to receive more opportunities. Individuals born into the film industry have to work even harder for it.”
RK is all set to play Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. Ali thinks the actor can transform himself like a chameleon.
“He lacks a distinct persona as an individual or an actor. He can be Jordan, he can be Barfi, he can be Lord Ram, and you will feel that you're not watching Ranbir; you're witnessing the character. And you will likely realize later that he has achieved this because he doesn’t appear to be doing anything out of the ordinary,” shared the ace filmmaker, adding that he is very eager to see what Ranbir brings to the role.
