'Alia is a disciplinarian, Ranbir's like a friend': Neetu Kapoor opens up about Raha's bond with her parents
Neetu Kapoor recently revealed that Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor share different bonds with their daughter Raha. The actress is currently serving looks at the Cannes Film Festival 2026.
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s life turned brighter when their daughter Raha Kapoor came into their lives. After their wedding in 2022, they were blessed with their sunshine the same year. While Alia might come across a lenient parent, she is the strict one in real life. Ranbir, on the other hand, is more fun and shares a friendly bond with their child.
Neetu Kapoor talks about Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s bond with Raha
Ranbir Kapoor’s mother and Alia Bhatt’s mother-in-law, Neetu Kapoor, was in a chat with Soha Ali Khan, speaking about her bond with her kids, RK and Riddhima. This is when she revealed the relationship Alia and Ranbir have with their daughter Raha Kapoor.
In the podcast, the Daadi Ki Shaadi actress stated that the Gangubai Kathiawadi actress is a strict parent, opposite to what people think of her. Neetu added, “Raha listens to Alia, and she is a great mother, but Ranbir is a friend. She will do all the masti (fun) with him, but she is scared of her mother.”
The senior actress further added that the National Award-winner is a disciplinarian. Neetu divulged, “She does the right things, no TV. I am always fighting with her, saying please let me give her one chocolate. But she’s like, ‘No, can you understand sugar is not good for her?’ Then I am like, ‘It’s okay, I am her grandmother, let me spoil her.’”
In the same interview, the Jugjugg Jeeyo actress stated that even though she lives in the same building as Alia and Ranbir, she isn’t the one who barges into their home, unannounced.
Sharing her mature insight on how a parent should behave after the marriage of their kids, Neetu opined, “When your children get married, you have to leave them alone. I am in the same building as my kids, but I don’t go just like that. I want to give them their space. I just don’t go.”
Rishi Kapoor’s wife further added that it is the actor duo and their child, Raha, who come and meet her when they’re free. “I don’t want them to be like mom is always sitting here. Their privacy is their privacy, I don’t interfere,” concluded the 67-year-old veteran.
