Alka Yagnik gives a health update after suffering from rare hearing loss

Alka Yagnik is the voice behind many hit songs. But back in 2024, her fans got emotional when she spoke about suffering from a rare sensory neural hearing loss due to a viral attack. Two years later, the singer updated her fans, stating that she is slowly getting there and her health is improving.

Recently, when Alka made a public appearance, looking visibly frail and assisted by a volunteer, it sparked immense concern about her health. In response to the outpouring of love and worry, the 60-year-old singer took to social media to share a health update on her ongoing battle with a hearing disorder.

Taking to her Instagram account, Alka shared why she has been missing from the public eye. “For the last two years, I have stayed away from the spotlight, from public appearances, and from sharing much of my journey. Many of you knew I am going through difficult health and through it all, your love, prayers, messages, and unwavering support have stayed with me every step of the way,” the Gadar 2 singer expressed.

Alka Yagnik's health struggles began abruptly two years ago following a sudden medical episode. She initially shocked the music industry when she broke her silence on the diagnosis, recalling the exact terrifying moment her hearing failed.

While walking off a flight, she suddenly realized she could not hear a single sound. Medical professionals diagnosed her with Rare Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SNHL). Doctors attributed the condition to a sudden, severe viral attack that targeted her auditory nerves.

The illness has drastically altered the singer's professional life. Known for delivering evergreen hits like Tip Tip Barsa Paani, Ae Mere Humsafar, and Agar Tum Saath Ho, Yagnik has been forced to put a pause on recording sessions. Her last major recorded track was Naram Kaalja for A.R. Rahman in the 2024 film Amar Singh Chamkila.
