Amitabh Bachchan reveals why he worked on 15 films simultaneously: ‘I was afraid I wouldn’t get...’
In his latest blog, Amitabh Bachchan recalled juggling 10 to 15 films simultaneously. The motivation to hustle was driven by the constant fear of unemployment.

Yet again, Amitabh Bachchan took to his personal blog to share his thoughts. While penning it, the veteran actor took a nostalgic trip down memory lane, comparing the filmmaking techniques of today with the hustle of Hindi cinema's golden era.
The Sarkar actor began by praising the dedication of today’s generation of actors. He noted, “The prep was a word or an explanation unknown to my generation and beyond... now 'it's' a common vocabulary, where one prepares for the work to be undertaken.”
Bachchan further wrote, “I see now the amount of labour and pain creative artists put into getting into the character, in looks and style and comprehensive character analysis. A most valid and thoughtful act, and my admiration to those who can give this aspect more than required serious consideration.”
However, he quickly pointed out, “But in the good ol’ days when we all worked in 10 to 15 films at the same time - many two or three the same day- it would have been impossible to prep for one and the un prep for the other… on the same day.”
He admitted that actors back then relied entirely on the directors. Upon arriving on a studio floor, a director or assistant director would quickly brief the actors on the scene right before the cameras began rolling.
When fans and critics wonder how the actors of that generation managed to seamlessly slip from one character to another, the Kalki 2 actor explained, “Bhai saheb, na karein to yeh dar rehta tha ki aage kaam milega ki nahin, to jo kaha jaata tha use niyamit roop mein dhaal dene ka prayatn kiya jaata tha. (If we didn't do it, there was always the fear of whether we'd get work in the future. So, whatever we were told, we tried our best to adapt to it sincerely.)”
He added that actors would have to wait months for the film to release just to see what they had actually done and how it turned out on the big screen.
