To celebrate the birthday of legendary former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly, the makers of his highly anticipated biopic have officially given fans the ultimate return gift. The first official poster and an exciting sneak peek of Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story, starring Rajkummar Rao in the titular role, were dropped today. Alongside the thrilling first glimpse, the makers have locked down an official theatrical release date, which is May 14, 2027.

The striking poster of Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story recreates one of the most iconic moments in Indian cricket history: Ganguly taking off his jersey and waving it from the Lord’s balcony after India’s unforgettable come-from-behind victory in the 2002 NatWest Series final against England. A celebration etched into the memories of cricket fans, the moment remains one of Ganguly’s defining images.
The teaser visual was accompanied by a heartfelt birthday tribute from the team. “Happy Birthday Dada!” they wrote.

The reveal comes just days after audiences witnessed Rajkummar Rao’s portrayal of Ujjwal Nikam in Prahaar, making it two vastly different real-life characters introduced within an incredibly short span of time. Dada marks the seventh biographical role in his diverse filmography.
While one represents the fearless lawyer who fought some of India’s most high-profile legal battles, the other celebrates the life of the man who transformed Indian cricket with his fearless leadership.
