Did Farah Khan blame Ayan Mukerji's father for her family becoming poor? Find out
In her recent vlog, Farah Khan joked about Ayan Mukerji's father making her family poor.
Farah Khan recently revisited memories from her childhood while filming her cooking vlog with actor Tanishaa Mukerji. During the candid conversation, Farah spoke about the financial difficulties her family faced in the past and shared a story involving filmmaker Ayan Mukerji’s father, veteran actor Deb Mukerji.
Farah Khan shares about her father’s film
The vlog began with Tanishaa giving the filmmaker a tour of her home, filled with traditional décor. The two later cooked sabudana khichdi together before moving to the terrace and discussed family experiences, career journeys, and struggles from their early years.
While talking about difficult phases in her life, Farah jokingly blamed Deb Mukerji for her family’s financial downfall after one of her father’s films failed at the box office. “I always tell Ayan Mukerji that because of his dad we became poor. Because my dad made his first big color film with Deb Mukerji in the lead role, and it bombed at the box office on Friday, and on Monday, we became poor,” Farah said.
She further explained that filmmakers in those days often invested their own money into productions, unlike today’s studio-backed system. The film she referred to was Aisa Bhi Hota Hai (1971), directed by Kamran Khan and featuring Deb Mukerji, Nandita Bose, Tun Tun, and Jalal Agha.
Reacting to Farah’s story, Tanishaa revealed that her own family had also experienced financial instability depending on the performance of films produced by her father, filmmaker Shomu Mukerji.
“We also went through these phases jab daddy ki pictures aati thi, chalti thi or nahi chalti thi toh we used to be poor for 2 years - 3 years,” she shared.
Shomu Mukerji produced several Hindi films over the years, including Pathar Ke Insan, Lover Boy, and Chaila Babu.
