In an industry where the word nepotism usually sends actors into a defensive spiral, Junaid Khan has a different take on it. The Maharaj star, who has been steadily carving a niche for himself with his unconventional choices, recently admitted that he is a product of nepotism, and that has helped him get work in the industry. Junaid Khan admits to getting work because of his father, Aamir Khan

During a conversation with Vickey Lalwani, Junaid Khan didn't shy away from the elephant in the room. When asked about his thoughts on the nepotism debate that has gripped Bollywood for years, he surprised everyone with his candid take on it.

The Ek Din actor opined, “The word ‘nepotism’ doesn’t irritate me because it’s true. I get a lot of work because I’m Aamir Khan’s son.” He further admitted that even after two flop films, he is still getting work.

But only Aamir Khan isn’t behind Junaid’s increasing filmography. According to the young actor, producers have to sell their films; therefore, they hire someone they can sell.  Sharing his two cents on the matter, the Maharaj debutant, added that their priority is what they can sell, not what is best for the film.

“They are not looking at which actor suits the character best, but rather which actor can be marketed more easily. For me, it’s not an insider versus outsider debate. It’s about not casting someone just because you can sell them. Cast someone who is right for the film,” the 32-year-old actor divulged.

Junaid’s latest release was a romantic drama with Sai Pallavi. Helmed by Sunil Pandey, the movie didn’t succeed in impressing critics or making a mark at the box office. Next up for him is Ekta Kapoor’s film, another instalment in the Ragini MMS franchise.

An insider exclusively told Pinkvilla that Tamannaah Bhatia and Junaid are in talks to be a part of Ekta Kapoor’s upcoming film, which is titled Ragini 3. Industry buzz suggests that director Shashanka Ghosh will be helming the project.
