Khalnayak Returns: Sanjay Dutt is back in his iconic villain avatar, says ‘Uska waqt aa gaya hai’
Sanjay Dutt returns to the iconic role of Khalnayak after three decades and unveils a teaser as Ballu Balram.
Sanjay Dutt has created a buzz online after announcing the return of his iconic and ferocious villain from Khalnayak. The actor shared a teaser of the upcoming film, marking the comeback of Ballu Balram.
Sanjay Dutt returns as Khalnayak with brand new teaser
Sharing the official update on social media, the Khalnayak Returns teaser features Sanjay Dutt reprising his role as Ballu Balram. The glimpse opens with a reminder about Ballu escaping from jail on October 10 at 10 PM. Smoking a cigarette, Ballu suddenly begins singing, “Nayak nahi, Khalnayak hoon main.” The teaser ends with the actor walking in his signature style, with a remix version of the theme song playing.
Unveiling the teaser, the actor wrote, “Some stories don't end... they start again. Khalnayak Returns.” Moreover, he also shared the first-look posters and captioned them, “Har kahaani ka ek waqt hota hai… Aur uska waqt aa gaya hai.”

For those unaware, Khalnayak is an action crime film that was released in 1993. The movie featured Sanjay Dutt in the titular role, alongside Madhuri Dixit, Jackie Shroff, Anupam Kher, Rakhee Gulzar, and others in supporting roles.
The film explores the story of Ballu Balram, a notorious criminal who escapes from prison, damaging the reputation of Inspector Ram. To recapture him, Ram’s undercover officer girlfriend, Ganga, infiltrates Ballu’s gang, leading to a complex dynamic where Ballu falls for her while she seeks to redeem him.
Directed and produced by Subhash Ghai, the film was co-written by Ghai along with Ram Kelkar and Kamlesh Pandey.
Sanjay Dutt’s work front
Sanjay Dutt was last seen in a key role in Dhurandhar 2. The second installment of the two-part franchise, led by Ranveer Singh, featured Dutt in the role of SP Chaudhary Aslam.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the spy action thriller also starred R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera, and others in key roles.
Looking ahead, the actor will appear alongside Dhruva Sarja in KD: The Devil. The film also stars Shilpa Shetty, V. Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah, Jisshu Sengupta, and others in prominent roles.
