The highly anticipated trailer of ace director Imtiaz Ali’s next cinematic masterpiece, Main Vaapas Aaunga, has officially dropped. Following the massive success of Amar Singh Chamkila, the maestro is back on the big screen. This time, he is ready to deliver an epic saga of love and longing.

Main Vaapas Aaunga Trailer Out

Imtiaz Ali has yet again penned a romantic saga which will touch the hearts of the young and old. The first glimpse of Main Vaapas Aaunga is out, and it’s a heart-wrenching tale about an ailing lover who longs to reunite with her partner 78 years after they separated.

The movie features an incredible ensemble cast including Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari Wagh, Vedang Raina, and Naseeruddin Shah. The 3-minute 9-second trailer promises a deeply emotional roller coaster that is sure to give you goosebumps.

Set against the tragic backdrop of the 1947 Partition of India, Main Vaapas Aaunga unfolds across two distinct timelines. The clip opens with an elderly man expressing his pain and desire to meet his childhood lover, whom he lost during the chaos. Even after decades, his wounds haven’t healed

The film takes the audience to the pre-Partition era, when Vedang Raina, playing a young man, falls for Sharvari Wagh, a spirited young woman. However, the brutal reality tears them apart. Fast-forward decades later, veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah portrays the older version of Vedang's character, still carrying the burden of his lost love.

Now, the elderly confides in his grandson, played by Diljit Dosanjh, who vows to help his grandfather find closure and reconnect with his roots. The trailer marvellously tells the story and lets the audience live the bittersweet emotions.

What elevates the trailer to a whole new level is its music. With Main Vaapas Aaunga, Ali brought on board the composer AR Rahman, and lyricist Irshad Kamil, with vocals by Dosanjh. The background score alone takes over the emotions. The caption of the trailer reads, “Can love really be lost? Can home be taken away from someone's heart?”

Produced by Birla Studios, Applause Entertainment, alongside Window Seat Films, this epic romantic drama is all set to hit theatres on June 12, 2026.
