Neetu Kapoor recalls going on cold wars with Rishi Kapoor
On Soha Ali Khan’s recent podcast, Neetu Kapoor opened up about the highs and lows of her 40-year marriage with Rishi Kapoor. During the chat, the veteran actress took a trip down memory lane, revealing some surprising secrets about her cold war with her husband.
Neetu, who was accompanied by daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, confessed that while she is generally calm, Rishi Kapoor was the only person who could get under her skin. She shared that their arguments often led to prolonged periods of silence, sometimes lasting for half a year.
“I used to fight with him for months,” the actress expressed. She further added, “My husband was very strong-minded. Whenever we had a fight, I couldn't put myself across to him because he wouldn't listen to me. So, I would go on this cold war with him, and it could go for a month or six months. I wouldn't bend till the time he asked me okay what's your problem?”
But the late actor would message kids just to make sure she was okay. Finally, he would go to her asking what the problem was. “Then he would do anything I would say. Go on a diet, lose 5-10 kgs, start exercising, he would do everything,” shared the JugJugg Jeeyo star.
Taking a dig at the silent treatment the duo would give to each other, her mother-in-law, Krishna Raj Kapoor, used to tease them about the actual duration of their marriage. Neetu recalled with a laugh, “My mother-in-law would say, 'You are only married for 20 years because you haven’t spoken for 10 years!’”
Talking about Daadi Ki Shaadi, the movie hit the cinema on May 8, 2026. It features Neetu, a widowed matriarch who shocks her family by announcing her remarriage on social media. The family drama also stars Kapil Sharma and Riddhima
