The buzz around Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming magnum opus Ramayana is rising with every passing day. Ever since the makers dropped its first glimpse, fans have been divided. Imtiaz Ali backs Ranbir Kapoor playing Lord Rama in Ramayana

While talking to Filmibeat, Imtiaz Ali showed confidence in Ranbir Kapoor playing Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming magnum opus Ramayana. Imtiaz believes that Ranbir won’t just do justice to the character, but playing the iconic role will actually transform him as a person.

When asked about the ongoing chatter around Ranbir’s casting, Imtiaz didn't hold back his praise. He highlighted that RK is a chameleon who can do anything. “Ranbir can do anything as an actor. He should do different roles, and when he does different roles, he'll become them. He is a pure actor, and I hope he does all kinds of roles,” Imtiaz shared.

The director added that he is genuinely thrilled to see the actor take on this mythological journey. “I am very happy he is doing Lord Rama's role because he can bring a certain effect or reality to the character. It will be nice to approach Lord Rama's character in a humane and personal way,” Ali opined.

According to him, stepping into the shoes of Lord Rama is going to leave a lasting impact on RK. The filmmaker explained, “It'll be hugely beneficial for Ranbir to have played Rama because he is the kind of actor who imbibes from the character. He will take from Rama, and that will be so enriching for him.”

If playing Lord Rama wasn't enough, Ranbir Kapoor dropped a massive bomb recently when he revealed that he is playing a dual role in the epic saga. Apart from Lord Rama, RK will also be essaying the role of Lord Parshurama.

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious and star-studded projects in the history of Indian cinema. Apart from Kapoor, the mass entertainer also stars Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, and more.
