The record-shattering box-office success of the Dhurandhar franchise created history. However, the journey to making the mega blockbuster was filled with immense financial risks. In an interview, the film’s producer revealed how Ranveer Singh came with a smaller fixed fee, and the team later shared rewards. Read on!

Did you know Ranveer Singh came with a smaller fixed fee for Dhurandhar?

In a conversation with ET Digital, producer Jyoti Deshpande shared behind-the-scenes insights into how the mega-franchise was built. She spilled that lead star Ranveer Singh and director Aditya Dhar took massive personal risks. Instead of opting for a hefty upfront fee, they trusted the movie and decided to make money only if the film did well.

“In Dhurandhar, Ranveer came with a smaller fixed fee and a backend deal, and therefore benefited from that arrangement,” Jyoti revealed. “The same was true for Aditya, who also came in with a smaller fixed fee and a backend. He ended up making a significant upside along with us. That’s how you distribute both the risk and the reward,” she added.

This strategic decision ensured that the team had the same intention and goal of making it a commercial success, which eventually paid off exponentially.

According to Deshpande, Dhurandhar ended up being made for almost double the amount of money they had initially set out to spend. “Of course, we eventually ended up with a two-part film, so it became a journey. In the end, all of us went laughing to the bank,” she divulged.

Reportedly, Dhurandhar Part 1 grossed Rs 1,307 crore worldwide while Dhurandhar: The Revenge, released on March 19, 2026, made over Rs 1,790 crore. The total revenue of the franchise touched the milestone of Rs 3,000 crore, putting a hefty sum of money into the pockets of the makers.
