Rashmika Mandanna shuts down rivalry rumors with Cocktail 2 co-star Kriti Sanon: “That myth is outdated”

With Homi Adajania’s highly anticipated romantic-comedy Cocktail 2 officially hitting the silver screen, actress Rashmika Mandanna is opening up about shedding her familiar cinematic notions for an urban one. In a candid conversation with Variety India, the actress reflected on stepping into a modern space. She also shared her two cents on the rivalry between female co-stars and her real-life sisterhood with co-star Kriti Sanon. Read on!

When two leading ladies share the space in a movie, a certain section of people start pitting and comparing them with each other. However, Rashmika Mandanna wasted no time throwing that narrative out the window, praising her experience of sharing the frame with Kriti Sanon in Cocktail 2.
“I think that myth is so outdated, and it's high time we completely throw it out the window. Working with Kritzu (Kriti Sanon) has been absolutely special, and if anything, this film has given me a friend more than anything else,” the Animal actress expressed.
According to her, the atmosphere on the sets of the spiritual sequel was entirely rooted in cheering and rooting for each other rather than competition. She noted that she and Kriti spent time together, bonding over shared meals, laughing between takes, and celebrating each other’s individual takes.
“I truly believe there is enough room under the sun for all of us to shine,” she added. “When women support women, the energy on set becomes magical. I think genuine warmth and sisterhood will be reflected beautifully on screen for everyone to see,” the Ranabaali fame opined.

Talking about her performance in Cocktail 2, Mandanna opined that playing the role of Diya was a complete 180 from what people are used to seeing her in. When the movie came to her, it felt like the perfect opportunity to stretch her wings and try a totally different flavour.
“This is definitely the most urban role I’ve played, and it honestly feels so incredibly refreshing,” the actress further admitted, adding that the last thing she wants is to get too comfortable or boxed into a specific image.
Cocktail 2 also marks her return to cinemas after her wedding to Vijay Deverakonda. Opening up on the two important events, Rashmika stated that she has always kept her personal life and professional life separate. “The ‘Cocktail 2’ release is special for its own reasons, and marriage is too special for its own reasons,” the diva concluded.
