Saif Ali Khan reminisces about the knife incident, admits fearing for his life: “I was lying on the floor…”
In a recent interview, Saif Ali Khan revealed what happened on January 16, 2025, that put him and his family in danger.
Saif Ali Khan has finally opened up in detail about the stabbing incident of January 2025 at his Bandra residence, where he and his son, Jeh, were attacked by an intruder.
Speaking to Barkha Dutt on Mojo Story, Saif Ali Khan recalled how a nanny rushed to him and informed him about the intruder. He said, “This burglar broke into the bathroom window. The nanny came in and told us, ‘Jeh baba ke kamre mein koi aaya hai, uske haath mein churi hai, usko paisa chahiye’ (somebody was in Jeh's room holding a knife and asking for money). I went to the baby's room, and he was holding the baby. He had cut the baby a little bit, and he had cut the maid a little bit.”
The actor admitted that he reacted instantly without thinking and got into a physical fight with him. “Something took over me, and I jumped on him. We had a fist fight. He went crazy with his knives, and there were cuts and blood everywhere. He wasn’t a very big fellow, but two knives are two knives. Just then, my maid came in, picked him up and chucked him across the room,” added Saif.
Saif Ali Khan, who will soon be seen in Haiwaan, sustained six stab wounds, including one close to his spine. "I was wearing a white kurta pyjama covered in blood, and at one point, I was lying on the floor. I thought I might die," said Saif.
He further recalled how his elder son, Taimur, asked him whether he was going to pass away. Saif said, "I really wanted to be with Taimur, and I asked him if he would accompany me to the hospital. He asked me, 'Are you going to die?' I told him no, and we went to the hospital together.”
The Kartavya actor concluded by mentioning that he wanted to forgive the intruder. Saif Ali Khan said, “I even wanted to forgive this guy because I think he made a huge mistake, and I think he was not looking for a fight. I would be happy to forgive him, but that part where he tried to kill me is something that I am finding hard to let go of. It's a question of haves and have-nots, and it is the inequality that has led to this.”
The intruder was arrested three days after the incident. He was identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam, a Bangladeshi national.
