Even over two decades after its release, Farah Khan’s directorial debut film Main Hoon Na continues to tell some of the most hilarious behind-the-scenes stories. Farah Khan recalls incident that left Shah Rukh Khan in splits

Farah Khan, accompanied by her cook Dilip, visited the gorgeous, all-white Mumbai residence of actor-couple Murali Sharma and Ashwini Kalsekar. While cooking, the conversation drifted to Murali's memorable role as Captain Khan in the 2004 action-comedy blockbuster, Main Hoon Na.

The trio burst into laughter as they revisited a specific action sequence that did not go as planned. “I had to fly only till the first floor,” Murali Sharma recalled. Farah quickly chimed in to explain that back in the day, Bollywood’s action infrastructure was in a much more experimental stage.

“At that time, the quality of harnesses wasn't very good, and people didn't really know how to use them properly. He just had to get out of the car while hanging onto the door. But Murali and the door both flew up,” she explained.

The filmmaker further shared that everyone, including Shah Rukh Khan, started laughing. “That was my first time on a rope. When Shah Rukh sir came, he was shown the entire shot. He rolled on the floor laughing,” Murali shared.

Murali’s wife, Ashwini Kalsekar, added, “Even when you see that shot now, he has those real scared expressions.”

Well, the stunt mishap wasn't the only moment Murali faced on his very first day of the shoot. The actor recalled how Farah called him out in front of nearly 250 crew members during his opening scene with Suniel Shetty.

“On the mic, Farah says, 'Murali, what are you doing, darling? What is this Maqbool kind of acting? Itna realistic mat kar (Don't make it so realistic).' In front of 250 people," Murali shared.

Farah unapologetically defended her direction, jokingly adding that she had even asked the legendary Naseeruddin Shah to deliver more "commercial acting" during his stint in the film.

Talking about Farah and Shah Rukh, the duo will be collaborating in Main Hoon Na 2. An insider exclusively told Pinkvilla, “Farah has cracked an idea for Main Hoon Na 2, and Shah Rukh has loved the route she plans to take for the sequel.”
