When Akshaye Khanna lashed out at producer and crew after an actor was denied lunch on set
Akshaye Khanna has been on a roll ever since the release of Dhurandhar in December and Chhaava in February 2025.
Actor Akshaye Khanna is known for his calm and reserved personality. He once shocked an entire film unit after fiercely confronting producers and crew members over the treatment of a junior actor. The incident was recently recalled by actor Amit Behl during his appearance on Siddharth Kannan’s YouTube channel. According to Amit, Akshaye was deeply upset after learning that a character actor had been stopped from eating lunch alongside the main cast and crew.
When Akshaye Khanna lost his cool
Amit said the junior actor was staying at another hotel from the film’s principal cast and visited Akshaye’s hotel during lunch. “The moment this actor had his first bite at the hotel’s lunch buffet, the producer’s wife or some relative noticed that he didn’t belong there and said he shouldn’t be eating that food. Just as he had begun, someone from production came over and said, ‘Sir, you can’t eat this.’ He was hurt and quietly kept the plate aside and sat by himself,” Amit recalled. The moment disturbed Akshaye, who saw the situation from distance.
Amit revealed that Akshaye immediately intervened and criticized everyone involved, including the producer and crew. “Akshaye, who usually speaks very little, gave a speech about what hunger truly means and what respect truly means. That day, I realised how intense and thoughtful he is towards his fellow artists. He said, ‘A film doesn’t get made by the number of plates or how much food you have; it is made by the blessings of people.’ It really looked like a man who hardly speaks had finally unleashed the volcano within him,” he shared.
Akshaye Khanna’s work front
Akshaye earned praise for his performances in Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, and Chhaava helmed by Laxman Utekar in 2025. His portrayal of Rehman Dakait and Aurangzeb impressed audiences and critics alike. Akshaye is now set to make his Telugu debut with Mahakali as Shukracharya in the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe. He will also appear as the lead antagonist in the Netflix film Ikka alongside Sunny Deol, Dia Mirza, Tillotama Shome, and Sanjeeda Shaikh.
