Afghanistan skipper, Gulbadin Naib apologised to the fans for their disappointing performance in the tournament. In their 9 matches of the league stage, the team failed to register a single win and ended at the bottom of the points table. However, the team did manage to give a tough fight to a few top playing nations in the tournament including the Men in Blue.

Post the defeat against the Windies by 23 runs, the Afghan skipper expressed his dissatisfaction and said that he is disappointed with the performance of the team. He admitted that the team made a lot of mistakes in each and every game and did not play their natural cricket.

While speaking about the Afghan bowler, Rashid Khan who has been exceptional in international cricket over the last few years, Naib said that he had a lot of expectations from him. However, he also mentioned that its a game of cricket and Rashid gave his 100 percent but you can say he has had his bad luck. “We have big names in our team like Nabi, Rashid, Mujeeb; everyone expected them to perform like they did in the last two, three years,” he added.

However, Naib also mentioned that he has learnt a lot from this tournament and he also agrees that they did not give anyone proper chance with a fixed place in the batting order.

“We could not give out 100 percent and fulfill expectations of the people of Afghanistan. I say sorry to my fans and my country,” Gulbadin added.
