ICC's bizarre rule of awarding the match to a team that had the most boundaries in the final of the World Cup 2019 has been criticized by fans and players alike. England and New Zealand played out a tense tie in the summit clash, and when the Super Over was tied as well, the match was awarded to the hosts, as they had hit more boundaries in the game.

Poeple termed the rule as "unfair" and "ridiculous", instead suggesting that the Cup should have been shared between the two, or that another Super Over should have been played out.

Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan too took to Twitter to criticize this rule, but did so with a hilarious analogy.

Kane Williamson, after the game, tried to keep his cool and was proud of his boys, saying that the side was not defeated on the field, but instead fell victim to the "fine prints" in the rules.

"At the end of the day nothing separated us, no one lost the final, but there was a crowned winner and there it is," he told Newstalk ZB.

The Kiwi cricketers have been praised for the manner in which they reacted to the cruel defeat, with Williamson even managing to laugh in the post match press conference, as he pointed at how the "uncontrollables" had got the better of them.
