West Indies big hitter Andre Russell was ruled out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 due to injury. The all-rounder suffered a hamstring injury and did not play in Windies' last game against New Zealand.

The team is all but out of the semi-finals, having lost four of their last six games, including a narrow five-run loss against New Zealand in the last match. Russell had a spectacular IPL, and was expected to hold the responsibility for his team in the death overs with the bat. However, he failed to make an impact till injury struck.

He did pick up a few wickets with the ball in hand, though.

Sunil Ambris has been confirmed as his replacement. The 26-year old will join the West Indies camp ahead of their clash with India on June 27, 2019 and will be available for selection at Old Trafford.

Ambris averages a whopping 105.33 in six ODIs, with his lone hundred in the format coming against Ireland last month.
