Former Australian skipper, Steve Smith is set to get back in action in the Test cricket as the Ashes get underway from August 1st. The right-handed batsman remained out of whites for about 16 months. Aussie skipper Tim Paine said that he is ready to roar.

“You don’t become one of the best players in the world and average 60 in test cricket if you don’t have some sort of a mission,” Paine told reporters while talking about Steve Smith.

Australia, after a forgettable last year, started 2019 on a tremendous note. The Men in Yellow fought hard to regain touch, especially in limited-overs cricket.

They dominated in a couple of series before heading to the World Cup. Pertinently, performed brilliantly in the mega event. However, lastly, they fell short in the semi-finals, losing to hosts.

Meanwhile, Aussies are set to make a mark now with the red-ball cricket. They will be eager to get back to winning ways against arch-rivals. As the Ashes is just a week away, Australia is hitting the nets hard before taking the field.

Captain Tim Paine while welcoming Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft to the side said,

“The boys have been having a bit of a laugh the last couple of days because nothing’s changed - he’s hit a million balls and our coach’s arm is falling off already on day two of the trip.

“It’s great to see that him, and David (Warner) and Cameron Bancroft have come back in and fitted perfectly in our group.

“They are guys who have always trained at exceptionally high standards and set the standard for others. The three of them have been outstanding since they’ve been back and involved.”
