Opting to bat first in the second semi-final of the World Cup 2019, Australia folded for 223 in 49 overs. England's Adil Rashid and Chris Woakes picked up 3 wickets each, while Australia's Steven Smith made a well-fought 85.

The openers David Warner and Aaron Finch were sent back in the space of 9 deliveries, as the side slumped to 10 for 2. However, the misery continued as Peter Handscomb soon followed. At 10 for 3, Smith combined with Alex Carey to take the total to 117, before the Aussie kepeer was sent back. Despite a good knock from Glenn Maxwell, the Kangaroos failed to get momentum in their innings, and eventually folded for less than 225.

For England, Jofra Archer picked up 2 wickets while Mark Wood scalped one. Smith was run out.

England need 224 runs to book their finals berth, and meet New Zealand in the finals.
