Bangladesh take on Asian rivals Sri Lanka in the 16th match of the tournament at the County Ground, Bristol on 11th June 2019. The Bangla tigers beat South Africa in their opening game, lost against New Zealand and England in the second and third game of their campaign respectively. They would hope that their star performer Shakib Al Hasan contributes with both bat and ball as he has done throughout the tournament and help his side to victories.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka are not the team of the past. They have had several issues coming into the tournament and have not struck the right balance. They would be hoping that their bowlers led by Lasith Malinga would rise up to the occasion wherever necessary. They have never lost a World Cup game against Bangladesh and would like to continue this trend.

Trivia:

Lasith Malinga who has picked up 46 wickets in World Cup cricket needs 3 more wickets to equal Sri Lankan counterpart Chaminda Vaas. If he does so, he would be the 4th highest wicket taker and the leading wicket taker for Sri Lanka in World Cups.

Shakib Al Hasan needs 23 more runs to complete 6000 runs in ODIs and become the second Bangladeshi batsmen after Tamim Iqbal to achieve this feat.
