BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky REVEALS that band’s 2016 song Whistle was initially rejected by YG Entertainment

BLACKPINK’s Netflix documentary BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky revealed that the group’s song Whistle which was released back in 2016 was initially rejected by YG Entertainment.

According to BLACKPINK’s Netflix Documentary BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky, YG Entertainment had initially rejected a popular song of the South Korean group!  The song Whistle which is till date very popular among fans was initially not appreciated by the girls’ agency. The executives of YG Entertainment stated that this song seemed too minimal and sounded empty. However, the members of BLACKPINK and Teddy pushed for the song to be released, as seen in the documentary BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky.

 

Upon its release in 2016, Whistle hit the music market top of the charts as it debuted atop the Gaon Digital Chart. The song also embedded the unique BLACKPINK image to the girl group.  After finding out that YG rejected the song Whistle, many netizens were surprised and stated that this is one of the most impressive songs from BLACKPINK.
