Blackpink’s Jennie continues experimentation with new solo EP Fallen Angel, explores mystical storytelling
Blackpink's Jennie announces her new solo digital EP Fallen Angel, consisting of the tracks Fallen Angel, Heaven and Less Than a Lover.
BLACKPINK’s Jennie has announced that she will release her digital solo EP, Fallen Angel, featuring the tracks “Fallen Angel,” “Heaven,” and “Less Than a Lover,” on August 28. She announced the new music through a message shared on the social media pages of Odd Atelier, her own company, describing it as a gift to her fans with love. She revealed that a music video for the title track will be released on the same day.
The singer first teased the EP through a carousel of mystical-themed photos on August 20, accompanied by the caption, “one day it’ll all make sense.” In the photos, Jennie is seen posing in front of a winged statue, with its torso hidden behind her, creating the illusion that she has wings herself.
From the internet sensation “Dracula (JENNIE Remix)” with Tame Impala to the romantic ballad “Less Than a Lover,” this year has seen Jennie experimenting more with her music. A sneak peek from the music video for “Fallen Angel,” the title track of her upcoming EP, hints at a story about human fallibility told through mystical symbolism.
With this mystically charged concept, the BLACKPINK member appears to be exploring themes of humanity, temptation, and the desire for freedom through imagery associated with flight and angelic purity.
Meanwhile, Jennie’s EP arrives just months after BLACKPINK released their eagerly anticipated mini-album Deadline in February. The K-pop girl group, consisting of Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé, wrapped up their world tour of the same name on January 26, 2026, at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong.
As quoted by Deadline, YG Entertainment said that despite the demanding schedule of the large-scale world tour, the members had devoted considerable time and effort to perfecting the album.
The agency expressed confidence that the release showcased both the individual musical abilities of all four members and their synergy as a group, while asking fans to continue supporting BLACKPINK as they seek to make another significant mark on the global music industry.
