Box Office Report: Beauty and the Beast ahead of many Bollywood films; inches closer to Anushka Sharma's Phillauri
Beauty and the Beast, in terms of box office collection, is not far behind from Anushka Sharma's Phillauri.

Beauty and the Beast and Phillauri enjoyed their decent box office run at the ticket windows. Beauty and the Beast stars Emma Watson who plays Belle and Dan Stevens who is the Beast in the lead roles.
The film also features Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Kevin Kline, Hattie Morahan and Ian McKellen in pivotal roles. The movie is based on the timeless tale of Belle who ends up being a prisoner. The film, in its total run at the box office, has earned around INR 19 crore and was appreciated by the Indian audience.
On the other hand, Phillauri is a story of Kanan aka Suraj Sharma helping Shashi aka Anushka Sharma to reconcile with her old-age love (Diljit Dosanjh). Being a solo Anushka film, Phillauri did well at the ticket windows.
The film has raked in INR 24 crore in its total run at the box office. The concept of the film was a little different and was liked by both the viewers and the critics.
But what caught our attention is the fact that Beauty and the Beast released in 700 screens which is half when compared to Phillauri, but still managed to get close, in terms of box office numbers, to the Bollywood film. Anushka's film got 1400 screens in India.
Not just Phillauri, Beauty and the Beast even became a competition for Bollywood films like Trapped, Aa Gaya Hero and Machine which released on the same day i.e March 17.
