Say what you may but there is no denying that everyone loves a fairytale. And the recent box office report proves just that. Disney's live-action movie Aladdin released this weekend. The movie was pitted against spy-drama India's Most Wanted, which stars Arjun Kapoor in the lead, and Vivek Oberoi's PM Narendra Modi. Aladdin, which stars Will Smith, Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott and Marwan Kenzari in the lead, opened better than the Bollywood releases. The Hollywood movie opened with box office collection Rs 4.15 crore on opening day and it witnessed a growth on Day 2.

According to Box Office India, Aladdin earned Rs 6.25 crore on its second day at the Indian box office. The international movie witnessed a growth of almost 50 percent on its Day 2 in India. These collections took Aladdin soaring past the Rs 10-crore mark on his purple carpet. The total box office collection of Aladdin in India stand at Rs 10.25 crore as of Day 2. We wouldn't be surprised if the Disney live-action movie clocks in Rs 15 crore at the box office by the end of its opening weekend.

Meanwhile, India's Most Wanted recorded a day 2 collection of Rs 2.5 crore whereas PM Narendra Modi clocked in a box office collection of Rs 3 crore.

On the international front, Aladdin and his lamp have worked their magic over the Memorial weekend in the US. Given the four-day weekend, Variety reports the movie is eyeing for a $100 million-plus opening weekend box office collection in the US. Aladdin flirted with the box office to open with a great $31 million box office collection.
