Anushka Sharma's highly-anticipated supernatural thriller Pari has hit the screens yesterday and the movie has been appreciated by both the critics and the viewers. The tagline of the movie, "Not a fairytale", already gave rise to a lot of speculations as to what the story is all about. Well, even before entering the theatre, you will be clueless of what Anushka's film to offer to you.

Yesterday was Holi and people were busy with the festival. In the morning show, Pari didn't pick much, but it was the evening shows that the movie progressed. The film has opened on a decent note and has earned Rs 4.36 crore on day 1.

Co-producer Arjun N Kapoor of KriArj Entertainment, said, "In many places outside Mumbai where theatres did not shut totally, they still opened only after 3 pm. But the word of mouth is so good that Saturday and Sunday will prove to be good days for this Anushka starrer. However, states like West Bengal where people celebrated Holi yesterday, have registered extremely good collections on day 1 itself."

Sanjay Chatar, leading distributor for Central India, said, "Major cinema halls in MP and Chattisgarh areas don't play movies on the Holi day in the morning; if they begin operations they start off only at 6 pm. Rajasthan began only after 4 pm. So the film's business in these crucial territories will only emerge over the weekend."

"Pari is doing superb in West Bengal. Literally, I had a feeling before the release that it will do well in West Bengal as the maximum shooting was done here .We had opened wide releasing in 118 theatres across Bengal which is a good number for a movie like this. Today it has opened with 100 percent occupancy in some the singles screens (Priya, Menoka, Star) as well as multiplexes (Inox, Pvr, Cinepolis, Carnival). I am really hopeful that the numbers will be great and in the box office it will be one of Biggest hit of 2018," said West Bengal distributor, Satadeep Saha of SSR Cinemas Pvt Ltd.

"The film has gotten 80 percent occupancy in Pune and Thane territories, where Holi is not celebrated widely. But then again, there are places like Nizam, Mysore and others down South that are reeling under a theatre strike. Over the weekend, as the theatre strike wraps up, the film is expected to display strong business," said another trade source.

Amazing movie

Most of the cinemas are closed on holi and only opens in the evening. Despite this, it got 4 crores. It should pick up in the weekend. All three comments below, it is so clear that you have not even watched the movie and are lying. Spreading negativity to try to make a movie not work is pure hatred and disgust.

No, it had a dull and slow opening. Probably won't change.

Flop

All other sites have it as a slow opening.

Movie is so bland. Only good thing is Anushka.

Flop

She over-acted A LOT!

It is clear from your comment that you did not watch it. You just do not like Anushka and say the same thing in all her posts.

Over acting is her forte!

hatred and jealousy seems to be your forte. live and let live

Woah! Easy there! Hate is a strong word. Don't go throwing that around like its nothing. As for jealousy, who would be jealous of Anushka Sharma and why? Not just her but who would be jealous of any celeb we know nothing about? The fact is, its just a differing opinion. That;s what makes this world beautiful. Not everyone will see things the way you do and that is OK. So it would be a good idea to respect other people's opinions. As you said, live and let live.

I watched it and I have to admit I wasn't a fan. Unfortunate, because I was looking forward to watching something different.

When people lie on PV about watching a movie they start with I watched it. Liar

It was such a waste of my time!! Hopeless movie.

Most movies in BW are hopeless, except this one. Great movie and Anushka deserves all the praises she is getting in reviews and Twitter.
