Athiradi Box Office Collections: Basil Joseph and Tovino Thomas starrer holds well, collects Rs 15 crore in 3 days
Athiradi, starring Basil Joseph and Tovino Thomas, recorded a 10 per cent spike on its Day 3, bringing the total cume to Rs. 15 crore mark in Kerala.
Athiradi, starring Basil Joseph and Tovino Thomas, added Rs. 4.75 crore on its Day 3, registering a spike of 10 per cent from the previous day. The Malayalam film took its 3-day cume to Rs. 15 crore gross, including paid previews. The movie is heading to record another spike on Sunday and close its first weekend around the Rs. 20 crore mark. That will be a phenomenal debut for a Malayalam film at the Kerala box office.
The action comedy, directed by Arun Anirudhan, has already turned out to be a success. It is heading to emerge as a HIT/Super Hit by the end of its theatrical run. Athiradi garnered positive reception among the audience and the critics, which is reflected in its box office run.
The movie has a free run of one week only, as Mohanlal's most-awaited movie, Drishyam 3, is arriving in cinemas next weekend. That means Athiradi is expected to slow down from the second weekend onwards.

Athiradi follows the story of Samkutty, an enthusiastic and overzealous college student who falls in love with his classmate. Over time, he gains popularity among his peers and decides to revive a long-banned festival at his college.
However, the festival was banned years ago due to the involvement of Sreekuttan Vellayani, a local goon and aspiring singer. As the festival update spreads, the two become involved in a fiery feud that can only end in a full-blown brawl. What happens between them, along with the lore behind the festival’s ban, is explored in the movie.
